Well, everything seems back to normal here in the Big Apple.  There are remnants of the snow which fell yesterday, but Mayor Bloomberg know how to runs his kingdom and most of the crosswalks I went thru were nice and clean.  The roads were pretty good this morning, there was some black ice on The Palisades Parkway, but traffic flowed pretty well.  02/11/2010

This terrible crash happened in front of my husband's job yesterday.  This happened on a road where the speed limit is 35 miles an hour.  How fast do you think the driver was going to do this kind of damage?  This is a wake up call for all those speeders out there that think "this will never happen to me!"   This was a Honda Accord.   This was not after they were "cut out" or removed or cut the car apart.   This is exactly how the car looked in the minutes after the ambulances had taken the driver and passenger away.   The occupants?  Two high school seniors.  God smiled on them yesterday.   Not only are they alive but they are basically unhurt.   Don't let this happen to you - YOU might not be so lucky.               01/15/2010

INGREDIENTS: 1 lb ground beef 1 small onion chopped 1/2 C green peppers chopped 1 Can kidney beans drained and rinsed, 15 oz 1 Can whole tomatoes undrained, 14 oz 1 Can tomato sauce, 8 oz 1 Tblsp chili powder 1 1/2 C Kraft Shredded Cheddar Cheese, divided DIRECTIONS: Brown meat in large skillet on medium heat, drain Add onions and peppers and cook 5 minutes or til tender Add beans, tomatoes, sauce and chili powder, mix well Reduce heat to low, cover Simmer 30 minutes, stir occasionally Sprinkle 3 Tblsp of cheese onto bottom of each bowl, top with chili and then remaining cheese.   6 Servings - 1 cup each ENJOY!! I saw the movie THE BLIND SIDE this week.  What a great movie.  I was a little hesitant to see it because I am not a big football person but I love Sandra Bullock.  The acting in this movie is phenomenal by everyone.  The movie is about two hours and stars Sandra Bullock, Tim McGraw and Quinton Aaron.  It is the story of Michael Oher, a gentle African American teenager who has had a rough up-bringing who is taken in by a very well to do white family and eventually wins a football scholarship to the University of Mississippi.  The story keeps you glued to the screen all the way through and it is not strictly a football story.  It has just the right amounts of everything mixed in to make it thoroughly interesting and enjoyable.  I very rarely make it to the movies and this week I saw two ... 12/19/2009
