Music in the Grove at Wooster Grove Band Stand, Route 52 will begin Saturday, July 5th at 6:30pm. Walden's own songbird, Alice-Nielsen Shane, jazz pianist, featuring blues, rag and torch songs and Howard Garrett of Montgomery with his monkey organ grinder will be guest performers. The free summer concert is presented by the Walden Community Council, the Village of Walden and the Josephine-Louise Public Library.  Bring your lawn chairs.  Town of Montgomery and Crawford seniro bus service is availalbe by reservation call 457-2622

Cruise for the Humane Society animals Sunday, August 17 from 1:30pm to 3:30pm.  A trip aboard the Pride of the Hudson leaving from the Newburgh Landing will benefit the society.  For tickets $25 for adults; $15 for childreed  under 12 call 778-2070  Enjoy all the food, music, rraffles as well as the views of the Hudson River.

Village of Walden fourth annual Soap Box Derby will be held on June 7th on Scofield.  The Walden Soap Box Derby has grown over the past three years from 16 racers in one division to 42 racers in two divisions last year.  The Village of Walden is an All-American Soap Box sanctioned Race Village.  This allows the top racers in each of the two divisions to compete in the national races in Akron, Ohio, each summer.  Visit www.aasbd.com to view the Derby's website.  Girls and Boys ages 8-17 can participate.  Visit www.villageofwalden.org to view photos of last year's events.  For information contact Jim 778-2177   www.teamrjsmith.com

The long awaited Walden Rail Trail, set to become available fall 2008, should prove popular with a wide variety of outdoor enthusiasts.
