I have been living here  in Nyack for over 25 years, and have often heard the term Rivertowns used to refer  to our little area  by the banks of the Hudson. So what exactly does the term refer to? After consulting numerous sources I have an answer.The Rivertowns are a group of  villages and  towns located on the western banks of the Hudson River. They include Nyack, South Nyack, Upper Nyack, Central Nyack,  Palisades, Sneden’s Landing, Piermont, Upper Grandview,and  Grand View. We are located only 20 minutes north of Manhattan, but you feel like you are in a New England fishing village when you are in the Rivertowns. If you are looking for a simpler, less harried existence, and still desire proximity to New York City the Rivertowns are definitely for you.       10/21/2014

 Our friend Andy Stewart and son Jonah are organizing a Ping Pong tournament. Tournament is a fundraiser for "Playing for Purpose," a youth-led project to send soccer balls to Nicaraguan orphans, promote healthy childhood development, and stop hunger. On Friday the Congregants of Temple Beth Torah in Upper Nyack will honor Rabbi Brian Beal for his ten years of service to the congregation and the community. The celebration will include two of the temples choirs and an original composition will be performed by Samuel Adler. Rabbi Beal is the chaplain of the Valley Cottage Fire Departmnent, and a coach of the Clarkstown travel baseball team. He also works with with VCS, Rockland Family Shelter and Jawonio.. The results are in Upper Nyack.  Incumbent Harold MacCartney was re-elected village justice .According to Clerk Carol Brotherhood there was a heavy voter turnout..The village justice  job carries a four-year term and pays $7,500 yearly.
