After providing a Feng Shui consultation in Jericho, NY I decided to treat myself to the Old Bethpage Village Restoration WW2 Encampment. It only cost $10.00 - $5.00, unless you were lucky enough to reserve a library pass a few days in advance (which then it would have been for FREE). It was an interesting sight to see two different time periods in human history come together. This living museum allows you to walk though the village, viewing homes from the 19th century. You could wonder inside to view the interesting historic architecture.  From May 21st -22nd, you have the opportunity to to see World War 2 military gear, outfits and demonstrated war strategies and tactics for this particular weekend.  Location:  1303 Round Swamp RoadOld Bethpage, NY 11804516-572-8400OBVR@nassaucountyny...

One of my favorite places on Long Island is the Old Bethpage Village Restoration.  The minute you park your car, you find yourself in a time warp.  You've left the 21st century behind for the charm and quietude of a country village in the mid 1800s.  This recreated typical farming community of its time sits on 209 pristine acres.   With 51 historic buildings and seven reconstructions it offers a realistic representation of life in a rural setting at the time. If you're looking for a different way to celebrate Halloween, why not get in your car and bring the family to the village to experience an 1880 Halloween. Place:  Old Bethpage Village Restoration, 1303 Round Swamp Road, Old Bethpage (off exit 48 of the Long Island Expressway) Dates:  October 23-24 and October 30-31, 2010 Hours:  11...

Why are you paying Realtors to work against your best interest?? When you engage a Realtor to help you buy a home with out signing a Buyer Agency Agreement you are agreeing to pay them a commission to work against you       The Benefits of Buyer Agency   $$$$No extra cost to the buyer$$$$   •·        They represent your interests, not that of the seller's.    •·        They point out the weaknesses and strengths of a property.    •·        They tell you if they think the house is overpriced.    •·        They analyze market data to determine an appropriate offering price.    •·        They apply their negotiating skills for your benefit to get you the lowest price.    •·        They keep your negotiating strategy in strict confidence.    •·        They prepare the sales documents with y...

Since I had so many pictures and a separate story, I broke this post up into two parts.  If you missed my last post, this is a visit to a wonderful place on Long Island that is from the 19th Century, the Old Bethpage Village Restoration located in the town of Oyster Bay, New York.  My daughter and I went for an hour and stayed for a day.  Part of that day was spent with a very interesting person who allowed me to shoot his picture and tell his story; he is the Gravedigger in the Cemetery, our last stop.  Here are the rest of the pictures and this man's story:How did I forget about the ANIMALS?  What a beauty this one was.  Some of you are lucky to see horses where you live, I don't get to see them often. And we certainly don't get to see pigs!  This was a baby with it's mother nearby (wh...

I have been putting this post off because I have SO many lovely pictures and it would take forever to show them...while I have left a ton out, I'm going to let the pictures tell the story and may put it into several parts so I can show you the best of them (and you don't get bored).Just before my daughter returned to college, we were looking for something to do one day.  We were both tired and wanted something that would be a short trip and wouldn't take much time.  I thought about Old Bethpage Village Restoration on Long Island in New York, a 19th Century Village that we haven't visited since the children were small.  It's in the very next town to Farmingdale and we thought we'd spend an hour there.  We thought wrong!  Although it was a weekend and many events weren't going on, it was ...
