Well, the answer to that is New Rochelle's Office for the Aging... Hillary, then First Lady, visited the Center whilst on the campaign trail for former President Clinton and his second election.  Senator Chuck Schumer and Congresswoman Nita Lowey have been to the Center on several occasions. Why? Any long time resident of New Rochelle would know the name "Coach Darren Gurney." Coach Gurney was the Head Varsity Coach at New Rochelle High School from 1997-2005 and Iona College Assistant Baseball Coach thereafter. From the very beginning, he instituted a program that set standards for the sport of baseball in the area, and the great results reflected his unique knowledge, dedication to the game, and passion for helping athletes.  Coach Gurney has just written a book (which took two years) entitled "Covering All The Bases - The Ultimate Baseball Handbook."  Davenport Park, New Rochelle   Well....  they always say "no good deed goes unpunished.."  In moving from one buyer to another this week, I thought it would move things onward by driving an hour away to one buyer's attorney to pick up an Offering Plan and deliver it to a another (new) attorney and buyer.. I went to park my car in the second attorney's building garage in White Plains - no parking nearby because of the snow... it was dark, cramped , and and had a low overhang - creepy...I  finally found a spot right next to a building support and post, was re-positioning my car and nearly took off my side mirror...   Paine Lake, New Rochelle I received a lower bid for a property I have, and after some negotiation - during which I was informed the buyer would NOT go up any higher (we inched him up a tad)...and we accepted the bid.... However, and this is where I see is often the case...the buyer then thought he had forever to sign the contract... I was told he was signing the contract 1 1/2 weeks after the contract was received. Hi - I wanted to let you know about a simply grand upcoming event - the New Rochelle Humane Society's Centennial Gala - June 9, 2011 at the Wykagyl Country Club from 6:30 - 9:30 p.m. (Ticket prices to follow).If you had noticed my earlier post on the New Rochelle Humane Society, you would know that 17 towns are serviced (extremely well) by the dedicated staff and volunteers. While their goal is obviously to have these lovely pets adopted, the pets' time spent at the Humane Society is caring and loving...but dog walkers are always needed, as are volunteers...check out their web site for volunteer training schedules and sign up!Since over 50% of their funding comes from donations and fund raising events, the Gala is a wonderful opportunity to become involved. Of course, prior to writing this post, I could have called Michael Thornton in Nashville, Tennessee ,  or Charles Buell in Seattle, Washington, or Russel Ray in San Diego as we all know their expertise is simply without bounds...but I didn't and so tried to research something on my own.... When we bought our house in 1992, we were informed by our engineer, that we had a 1950s era hot water heater... but of good quality. Since we are from the school that if it works, why change it... we left it to run its life course. It has now been 19+ years, and our hot water heater still works beautifully. How come? New Rochelle's Magnet Program Open House Just a reminder that New Rochelle will have its yearly open house at the Barnard School this Friday at 6:30 p.m. (postponed from this evening due to the snow storm). A few years ago, a client was required to legalize her sun room prior to closing. We knew about it; we disclosed it, but then we had to do it! I had suggested a wonderful architect in the area who has both plumbers and electricians with whom he works on a routine basis…and it would have been a one time fee, a one stop shop. My client had her own electrician, and after speaking with her attorney, he suggested she call another architect who he knew. She decided to go her own route which was fine. My architect knew the people at city hall, but it was her prerogative to use who she wanted. After all, it was her money. I called 2 weeks later and asked how she was doing…she replied that while the architect had quoted a lesser fee, the other costs had not been included, and sure enough, they ... 01/22/2011

I received a piece of mail today from an agent who does not 'sell' in my area... but her mailing suggested that not only did she sell - but was qualified for expensive high end properties, that her company was number one in the area - when it was combined with the town she lived in.... Now, as it happens, my company is Number one in New Rochelle, and if you break down the Larchmont and New Rochelle Offices, the New Rochelle office is Number one in New Rochelle, and the Larchmont Office is Number Two in New Rochelle - when joined together - we are undoubtedly Number One for sales in New Rochelle. However, when you join New Rochelle and a neighboring town (which is a totally different town, different school system, etc.), then another company is Number One. January 17th, 2011 Ray Rice is simply a brilliant young man, and he also happens to hail from New Rochelle. We are SO proud of him as a football player, as an individual and as a role model for New Rochelle’s young football players both on and off the field. I was disheartened to learn of Ray’s illness…a week before the game, he was sporting a 103 degree fever, and then the day before the game, he was throwing up, wasn’t eating anything and had to take fluids to just obtain some sustenance. The fact that he still played says a great deal to his courage, his fortitude and the knowledge by his coaches that he evolved from third string to first string in as many years, and he was still THE Running Back.
