Wee Play - Where the Weather is Always Perfect!!   This past weekend ended in a day of non stop torrential pouring rain.  Of coarse, it was the very day my daughter chose for me to bond with her children.  Ordinarily I look forward to spending time with them, but not if it meant being cooped up in the house with two active toddlers and a 5 month old.  My idea of a fun time was taking them to the park, or swimming - but not in the rain. My local grandkids are usually a built in diversion, but they were away for the weekend, and so I couldn't count on them.  Chuck-e-cheese is a staple that I often fall back on in bad weather, but I already had a headache from all the anticipated noise and crowds.  Instead, on the recommendation of one of my "grandma" friends, we headed for "Wee Play" and ...

I would like to share this with my friends in the Metro Area. Madeline Wiebicke is an agent with Keller Williams Hudson Valley, and she needs our help. "My husband Randy Wiebicke is down at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center going through another stem cell transplant. He will be in the hospital for a month receiving chemo and then his brothers stem cells .  I have attached a letter from Sloan Kettering for anyone who would like to donate blood or platelets. It must be done at Sloan Kettering and it is best to have an appointment because the platelets have a very short life and they like to give them to him fresh. With his last stem cell transplant he received many transfusions of platelets and he was so grateful to have them from people he knows and loves. If you can not donate but ...

Recently our family engaged the services of  Carol Romeo of Sensible Staging and Redesign to help with the staging of our home for selling.  Carol was recommended to us by our realtor and her services proved invaluable.  We were expediting the move of our home quickly.  Carol was ready to start work immediately.  She was prompt in providing a detailed outline of suggested changes as well as prompt in providing resources to get the work done.  The changes she suggested, using pieces of furniture and items we already had, made a huge difference in the way our house was presented to prospective buyers.   Her input was vital but the personal effort she showed towards us and our house was above what we had anticipated.  We were particularly impressed that she made sure to be on hand when the...

The Internet is the first place home buyers shop for a home. One-third of home buyers start their search for a home online. In 2007, only 4% of first-time home buyers and 5% of repeat home buyers began their search by visiting open houses, according the 2008 National Association of REALTORS® Profile of Home Buyers and Sellers.  However, as buyers get deeper into the home buying process, open houses become more important. Of all home buyers who purchased a home in 2007, 48% used open houses as a source of information, and 40% of all home buyers found open houses to be "very useful," said the study. But you're not here to educate buyers, you want to sell your home. How can an open house be right for your marketing plan?  The study found the answer in buyer follow-up behavior. In 2007, 15%...

The five Chinese Feng Shui elements ~ wood, fire, earth, metal, and water ~ can define five different traits of chi or energy.  These five elements are also referred to as the "five transformations" due to the fact that each element can define a specific kind of energy to change the chi of that space. As discussed in a previous blog, each of the Feng Shui elements is associated with a specific object type, color, and shape.  By manipulating the balance of these five elements in a specific space, the balance of chi is also adjusted.  The addition of more red in a space (which is the Fireelement), such as red candles, red curtains, or red pillows the chi energy will be more energized.  While the addition of browns and beiges (which is the Earth element), such as ceramics will help you fee...
