Blue Stores Inn and Restaurant I was sad to learn  that the Blue Store Inn and Restaurant renamed Historic Blue Stores Restaurant, built in 1804 was no more.  Last night a fire ripped through the structure, and although many fire department responded they were unable to save it. Over the years I have dined there, attended a wedding and a 60th wedding anniversary. Many residents have very fond memories, a place where special occasions in their lives were celebrated. I commuted north for years and the Blue Store Inn and Restaurant was the landmark I looked forward to, because I knew I was almost home when I saw it.

Little stone house on Route 9 in Livingston NY I have passed this little stone house on Route 9 in Livingston NY so many time, and it always look good no matter which season. It is close to the road an that is not surprising, if you look closely you will notice the eyebrow windows which is a hint it is an older home and it is on a large farm.  Route 9 was a major road back then and still is, stretching all the way from New York City to Albany the capital. This day I was returning from Albany on a nice fall day, and as a passenger I was able to get this shot.   I personally love the tones in the photograph.

Today was another beautiful spring day, so it was nice to be out  and about.  One scene which caught my eyes were these horses grazing.  I think even the horses were able to appreciate the good weather. And I noticed the new leaves on the trees by the horses, what a great shade of green. I do hope like these horses on a spring day, you are enjoying the outdoors.

A rainbow anywhere is beautiful I was traveling through Columbia County NY when I noticed the rainbow and a massive cloud hovering over a gravel pit.  A gravel pit might not be the most scenic place but I thought the combination of all three things made an interesting photo.

Today I took a ride on a beautiful country road in Columbia County, an area popular with second home buyers.  I was enjoying the ride but I got very excited when I came across these  beautiful horses grazing near Apple Barn Farm a very popular country wedding destination.

Horses in the snow. I would think a warm barn would be more inviting but the attraction must be the view of the beautiful Catskill Mountains. Here in the mid-hudson Valley you can find many horse farms, some big and others just having one or two horses. For some looking for second homes, the romantic idea of owning horses and being able to ride them is a big thrill.  On a few occasions, I have even encountered riders taking a trot down the middle of a country lane.    JFIVE HOMES REALTY LLC - 845-758-6842- jennifer@jfivehomes.com  and www.jfivehomes.com   Flickr | Facebook | Linked-in |Twitter |subscribe to Blog Copyright © by Jennifer Fivelsdal, all rights reserved - Wordless Wednesday - Horses in the snow - it must be the view.

The Town of Livingston can be found in Columbia County New York.  It was named after Robert Livingston the first lord Of the Manor. The land grant was given in 1686 and the town was established in 1788.  I have previously mentioned Mr. Livingston reference to his involvement with Robert Fulton and the steamboat.  I have also written about his beautiful estate on the banks of the Hudson River in Clermont.  This area is so rich in history it could keep a history enthusiast very busy. This town has a population of just over 3424 according to the census.  Here you can still find beautiful farmland.  One of the Livingston's vacation home Teviotdale home was located here. Teviotdale In 2007 from January to December there were 48 listing and 19 Sold                                             ...

With the aging of our population there is increased demand for facilities to meet their needs.  One such facility is Livingston Hills in the town of Livingston in Columbia county.  This facility is certified for 120 residents and accepts both Medicaid and Medicare.  Here are the services available : Respite Care - as described in their brochure, this type of care gives family members a break from daily care-giving.  And we all know how important it is for the caregiver to take a break.    Rehabilitative Services- I have had elderly friends who transitioned here from the hospital, for therapy, before getting the okay to return home.    Alzheimer's Care.  Providing care for your loved one at home can be difficult and stressful, so, it is good to know this service is available.   Here ...
