Savarino Construction Co. and Southeast Works have announced plans for a $6.5 million project to convert the former Our Lady of Czestochowa School on Clinton Street in Cheektowaga into apartments for people with developmental disabilities.Read Also:  Cheektowaga Chatholic School May Get New Life There will be 24 units and construction should be completed late 2009 early 2010. This is exciting to see as we see the Catholic Church trying to make use of many of the buildings that they no longer need in Western New York. Recently the Buffalo News reported about a potential Fair Housing Violation in Cheektowaga. There are those that believe that the Cheektowaga redevelopment is biased against minorities, families with children and others protected by Fair Housing Laws, state human rights officials say.Developers already have begun work on the project, which will redevelop more than 900 apartments in Kensington Village and Kensington Homes into upscale apartments targeted at students of Villa Maria College.
