Main Reason for UFO & Alien Cover-up by United States Government ...Besides the Churches across the Nation that (Do Not) want the truth let out about UFOs, Extraterrestrials and Life on other planets, here is the main reason for the cover-up!With all the Wars across the World that have happened since the beginning of man, can you imagine what would happened if the truth leaked out about UFOs & Extraterrestrials? The United States Government has done a great job of making UFO & Aliens out to be a joke, with movies and other means. After The War of the Worlds radio broadcast on October 31st 1938 by Orson Welles that caused such panic that people were jumping out of buildings, the US Government could never let this happen again. And since then has made sure that the Crash in Roswell and othe...
With Halloween around the corner Alaska Bob aka Robert Swetz wanted to share and express some personal knowledge of Extraterrestrials. When I grew up I use to watch movies like War of the Worlds by George Orson Wells, Fire in the Sky by Travis Walton, Starman, Contact, Star Trek, Close Encounters, X-File Series and many other movies about UFO's & Aliens. Vegas Bob has always had an interest in Sci-Fi but never thought in a million years that any of this UFO/Alien stuff was true.   Around 25 years ago while fishing Big Sandy Lake in Northern Minnesota I decided to stay at a friends cabin, I was woke up with a frightening vision.Around 3:00am in the morning I woke up while I was sleeping on a couch. As I looked over at another couch across the room I saw 3 figures that looked like they w...

Vegas Bob's relatives from far away are so shy. They don't like taking photographs and Vegas Bob can't figure out why? So they look a little different ...Animals all look different, and you don't see them trying to hide from the camera.   Robert Swetz's cousin May 31st 2015 by Robert Swetz Photographs of Robert Swetz's relatives are so few and far between that he had to look through thousands of photographs to find these. The photo (above) was taken this morning on Robert's cousin keep complaining about the long ride in his car, and asked why it was taking so long? Roswell New Mexico by Robert Swetz 2010  Aliens & Abducti...

Twilight Zone, the attic. Too many issues for a brand new home. Getting a new home inspections has been a real challenge for Desert Sun Home Inspections in Carlsbad New Mexico. But when the buyers have the foresight to call for a new home inspection, they did the right thing. When inspecting this new home. The attic was like the twilight Zone. There were just too many issues right from the start of the attic area's inspection. Firts thing I noticed when I went up the ladder was the electrical boxes. Here is a look at the Two boxes in the Attic that have no covers on them. And what's with the extra line in the junction box that was live but unused. The blown in insulation was another story. They had blown the insulation every where. And I do mean everywhere. Take a look at the furnace an...

Garage's and apartments. They need to be correct. Safety issues. I had been running into a few of these homes that have a detached garage. That is a good thing. But when an apartment has been added to the garage. Then safety issues come into play. Many of these older garages were never finished on the interiors. This is a major issue when wanting a living space that is attached to the garage. This garage and apartment is located in a city that has a shortage of rental properties. This brings out the home owners that want to make extra income for their themselves. Not a problem if you ask me. May as well get into the rental business if you have a chance right? This property has a apartment about 700 Sqft. Not very big when looking for a rental property. But how big a place do you need fo...

When is a vent a vent but not a vent? Not trivia, just the facts. When inspecting homes for Desert Sun Home inspections in Carlsbad, New Mexico. There seems to be one re occurring theme with builders and home owners that want to do the "Do it yourself jobs". More commonly known in the Real Estate world as the "DIY". Any builder building a home today must know the codes. They should know how to build a home the right way. So many times I find very little venting for the attic spaces. Next time you are talking with a builder ask them this. "What is the free air space in square inches for that can vent you use"? This could be used for any vent they install in the home for venting. I will guarantee that 99 out of 100 builders will say "I have no idea what the square inches of free air space...

The pregnant wall. And the inspector is not the cause. There are times when us inspectors run into things that really need more expertise than we can deliver. Case in point. This looks like the typical kitchen with the frige sitting there ready to be used. All good so far until I make a discovery that has to be investigated further. With one quick glance down the side of the wall I could see there was a major issue with something. I could see the wall seemed to be "Pregnant". AWW. Could this be? Is it possible? No way I thought. I am a bit of a touchy feely guy. I like to get close to my work when inspecting. In many cases touching is the best way to get to many causes of why an issue is an issue at all. Here is a look at the wall from on top of the frige. The wall is bowed at what I gu...

Water will flow uphill. Common sense missing. As inspectors inspect homes. We find issues that are not quite right. In many cases we are dumbfounded by what we find to the point we want to stare at the issue in disbelief. This was the case at a home inspection last month in Roswell New Mexico. When it comes down to electrical and plumbing issues. No buyer or even seller wants you to find anything of significant size. I was being shadowed by the buyer during the home inspection. That was O.K. by me. I could tell them more about my services and try to get some referral business my way. We get to the kitchen and I take a look at the sinks plumbing. Then I take another look. Then I take a very long look. Flash, flash goes the camera as I try to get the best angle an view to install in the r...

What is wrong with my steps. The buyer wants them fixed. At Desert Sun Home inspections in Carlsbad, New Mexico I try and be very fair when it comes to inspecting a home for a buyer. I know that there are certain minor things the buyer is going to take care of. Then there are these things that need to be in the report that will actually save a life or help you as a seller in not getting sued by a family member or friend.  Case in point: The front steps are not the same height. The rear steps are not the same height. The heights of the steps are from 7.25 inches to 8.25 inches. Off as much as One full inch. That was not as much a concern for me as the height of the steps platform. These were at 32 inches above grade. Take a look at the front Patio area. There is no handrails and no raili...

From one extreme to another. Home inspection Roswell New Mexico. It seems to never amaze me that contractors that install heating and cooling in homes never seem to "get it". There are ways and codes to do installation's the right way. This contractor/ plumber went from one nice installation to a bad installation. Check out this view of the gas line under the range top. This is a very nice clean gas line installation. But the sediment trap is not required for this appliance.         The IRC code states this. Sediment Traps - From IRC:IRC - International Residential Code: G2419.4 (408.4) Sediment trap. Where a sediment trap is notincorporated as part of the gas utilization equipment, a sediment trap shall be installed downstream ofthe equipment shutoff valve as close to the inlet of the ...

When building a home. It's the simple things that matter. Desert Sun Home Inspections was at a home yesterday for a full home inspection for a buyer moving in from Colorado.  Home builders need to pay attention to detail when installing all of the components when building a home. When ever you install a window for instance. Make sure the window is in a level position. Even if the window is a round window. This window has "Mullins or what some call Styles or grids" inside the two panes of glass. In this window the styles were not able to move. They were in place by the manufacturer. So why did I find this when inspecting this home? The window was not installed properly. The grids are off about 1 1/2 inches for being level. This clearly shows the builder was not paying attention to detail ...

Exterior electrical issues. Sellers and buyers beware. Safety is number one priority at Desert Sun Home Inspections in Carlsbad, New Mexico. This is why when inspecting home for a buyer or a seller there seems to always be an issue with the exterior electrical. There are issues from missing or damaged receptacle covers to the unprotected wiring. Here is a shot of an electrical conduit that is missing the cover. No one seemed to know why the cover was missing. And yes the wiring was live wires. This is an safety issue. Here we have a shot of the exterior four plug set that is not protected from the elements and is not within a GFI or GFCI system. There are a lot of issues that could be a deadly combination when it comes to electrical and the safety of that exterior electrical. Here we ha...

Building a home the right way. Venting is crucial. There are just too many of these homes I have been inspecting with the same issues when it comes to venting a home the proper way. At Desert Sun Home Inspections in Carlsbad, New Mexico.  We really try not to raise too many "red flags". We don't want to be known as an "alarmist' when it comes from a Realtor talking about how a home get's inspected by Desert Sun Home Inspections. Many realtors ask me if that is really an issue? I tell them it is and that's why it's in the report. I want to find nothing at all when inspecting homes. I would love to have a really simple report that say's I could find no issues with the home inspected at.... But this is not the case in 99.99% of the homes I inspect. Lets take a look at the venting for the b...

Egress and the means of. Home inspection in Dexter New Mexico 88230 When I got the call for this inspection, the buyer wanted to know if I had an issue about driving "All the way to Dexter New Mexico". Dexter New Mexico sits about ten miles south of Roswell New Mexico. I inspect homes in Roswell New Mexico, so driving to Dexter was not an issue. Only about 70 Miles. The buyers asked if I charged a travel fee. I told them no and what the inspection fee would be. They were fine with that. The reason I brought up the travel fee, was that many inspectors charge a travel fee if they have to travel outside their home town city limits. You should have a set fee for an area. I do, any where within the TRI county area is a set fee. Now on wards to the inspection. Egress is the means to get out o...

Commercial Inspections in Roswell New Mexico. Desert Sun Inspections. At Desert Sun Commercial Inspections we have seen an increase in our commercial inspections division. The risk management division has increased as well. In 2013, this has been a banner year. Although home inspections have slowed in late November to today. The first of the year should have an increase in requests for inspection. A potential client called this week and wanted a sample report for their review. I sent them a sample report and they called back wanting a Commercial inspection on a building in Roswell New Mexico as soon as possible. I did the inspection and then spent four hours writing up the report on Christmas Eve. They were sent the report and then buyer called me to get a copy sent directly to the buye...

Disposals and the improper way to connect them. It's simply amazing what I find when inspecting homes. At Desert Sun Home Inspections in Carlsbad New Mexico. We find all kinds of issues with homes and the safety aspect of the issues we find. Take into account a garbage disposal that was no doubt installed by "Uncle Bob or his nephew Rufuss". Now that Uncle Bob is really getting up there in age, I really think that his nephew Rufuss is starting to take over the repairs his Uncle Bob has been doing for a life time. Lets take a look at the garbage disposal and see what we found when inspecting this home. This disposal had a number of issues. Way too many for a simple plug in and go. The very first thing I saw was the switch for the disposal. See where it's located? And no cover for the swi...

You forgot to order the doors! Home inspection in Roswell New Mexico. When building a home, there is a lot of things you need to be on the watch for. Choosing the right builder is a very big decision. This home seller did just that. This home was a great home to inspect. Everything was right. Well, just about everything. The buyer called for a home inspection. This deal took about a week to put together for the buyer. The home was not listed and was a "I hear you have a home for sale" deal. The buyer then got with a Realtor to help with the purchase of the home. This buyer did make a great choice when choosing this home. Great location, good looking home and built in 2009. This home has custom everything. The interior was designed by the owners wife. The seller told me at the inspection...
