Catholic Schools reeling in Cape May County January 6th, 2010 Just one day after school officials called rumors of Wildwood Catholic High School's closing unfounded, the Diocese of Camden announced that the school will close at the end of the school year this June.  It's just the latest round in the demise of the Catholic church in Cape May County. In 2007, St. Raymond's elementary/junior high school in the Villas section of Lower Township was closed by the Diocese of Camden, which oversees the Catholic goings-on in southern New Jersey.  Students, parents, and teachers were saddened, outraged, and in shock.  Students were offered the chance to transfer to Star of the Sea in Cape May or St. Ann's in Wildwood. Great things are in store for the Wildwoods.  North Wildwood City Council approved a 90,000 square-foot pirate-themed indoor waterpark where Seaport Pier now stands.  Construction will include a water park on the east side of the Boardwalk between 22nd and 23rd Avenues and a 16-story 425-room hotel on the west side. There will be an overhead walkway linking the two properties.  Also planned is 3 restaurants and a 600-car parking garage.   If the project receives all the necessary approvals, it could be open in 2010.  This could bring 300-400 year rounds jobs to the area besides all the construction jobs.  Groundbreaking is expected in 2008.  This could be a winner.  Stay tuned. 07/19/2007

Today I had an interesting phone call from a man who has just begun to look for property in North Wildwood.  He is a Vietnam Vet in his mid 60's looking for a single family home for his family.  To be very honest, most of my customers are looking for condos and it is either a second home or an investment property, so when we spoke on the phone I had a hard time coming up with properties off of the top of my head.  This man is currently renting and his finances are not yet in order.  North Wildwood does not have that many single family homes and the ones that do exist are either out of his price range or in need of major repairs.  It does not sound like he can spend a lot for a home - - maybe this will change when he speaks to a mortgage broker -- and he does not want to move out of the ... 01/08/2007
