Moorestown, NJ Real Estate News

Well...right now no one knows!  The future of the Public Library in Moorestown, NJ (previously voted #1 place to live by Money Magazine) is in limbo.  A brief history is as follows:  The library closed last October 2006 to prepare for a major renovation.  A $3.7 million project was in the works to reconstruct the library and double it's size. Unfortunately, those plans were halted by town council. Due to actions taken by the General Contractor, the township was forced to rescind the contract.  So after being closed for almost 4 months, the township reopened the library on January 29th and hired a consulting firm, Library Development Solutions, to help plan what the future should be.  Now many outsiders may not think this is a big deal, but for Moorestown residents...this is a big deal! ...

Within Moorestown New Jersey, you'll find some peace and tranquility over at Strawbridge Lake.  Located along side Rt. 38, the Lake runs from Church to Kings Highway over by Lenola Rd.  The lake is frequently used for picnics, long walks with the kids or dogs and even for fishing.  It also has become a popular location for joggers and those who just need a few minutes of peace and quiet during their lunch break.  Lined with trees it's easy to lose track of time just staring at the water.  As with the rest of Moorestown, Strawbridge Lake has it's own piece of history to share.  To start, it's one of the few man made lakes in the area.  What prompted the creation of a man made lake?  The Great Depression!  In 1931, discussions started on developing a work project to help Moorestown's unem...

Plainly visible from I-295 and the NJ Turnpike, this landmark often draws double-takes from motorists not from the area. As odd as it may seem, located a stones throw from million dollar homes in Moorestown, NJ is a working mock-up of a Navy warship. Known as the USS Rancocas, or the "Cruiser in the Cornfield", this is a research & development center used by the Navy & Lockheed Martin for the Aegis weapon system. Armed with a working radar, this facility can also monitor aircraft up and down the Northeast coast. Originally built by RCA this facility has been around about 50 years!

Money magazine proclaimed that Moorestown, NJ (in Burlington County) is the Best Place To Live in the USA for 2005.   As far as I know, it's still one of the greatest, if not the greatest.   However, Burlington County has many other great and unique communities in addition to Moorestown.According to Money: "MONEY magazine and CNN/Money spent months looking for Great American Towns -- where you would want to raise your children and celebrate life's milestones. Starting with more than 1,300 cities, we settled on 10 winners."
