Wow what a great start with about 18 vendors and a very happy group of customers, who were thrilled for something like this to happen in there own town. The market was initiated by the new Main Street organization. The market will be held every Saturday through October spaces are only $10 for vendors. If your interested in selling your wares you can contact Cathy Saparito at 856-667-3305 for information and an application. Adding new events to its arsenal, Maple Shade is moving forward towards its renaissance on Main Street. Even before receiving the new Main Street Community designation, Maple Shade had been moving forward in making a business friendly community. With recent review of zoning regulations and a renewed focus on attracting new business to the town, Maple Shade is truly becoming fertile soil for planting your new business. In August a new Kids Day at the park will be added, this event will focus on a fun day for the younger children. On September 6th our annual sidewalk sale will take place. It's not something we have had to do in the past, but in our present environment, re evaluating your buyers should be something to consider. As the mortgage industry tightens its rules and requirements for different products, many home buyers no longer qualify under the new rules. We are finding some buyers have to be switched to FHA because of the new direct underwriting standards of Fannie Mae. Now there will be a new round of FHA tightening to take effect next month. I urge everyone to contact their mortgage reps and investigate whether their clients will be affected by the new requirements. There is nothing worse than to find your clients no longer qualify after entering a contract. We owe this to both parties.

Hi everyone I'm looking for Ideas to help increase foot traffic to our main street in Maple Shade.  I have just inherited the chair for the promotions committee for our new Main Street designation. We have come up with many possible events and we need more of them that we can do on a shoestring. I would appreciate any and all suggestions as we are trying to build a database of Ideas for events. Hope you all can help me out. Thanks   Jerry

I'm sure we all have our stories we can relate to showings that have gone haywire. I wanted to relay this one from when I just started in the business. I believe about my first or second month in the business I was showing houses to a young couple in the Maple Shade area. I knocked on the door of this house and no one answered. I proceeded to use my multack, remember them, and opened the door when a small Benji type dog rushed through the door ran down the steps and down the street. He was gone, really gone , around the corner out of sight. I couldn't believe it. He didn't bark or make a sound. I wasn't ever told there was a dog in the house to begin with and now I lost the peoples dog. The couple I was with couldn't believe how quick he disappeared. This was of course prior to cell pho...

Why do I live in New Jersey? Have you been watching the news lately, nothing but Tornadoes, violent storms, drought, out of control fires, floods, and biblical type stuff on a daily basis! Here we have traffic jams, high taxes and a little political nepotism. Personally, I don't think there's a trade off. I guess everyone lives where they feel most comfortable and for me that's here. How could you go wrong, sixty minutes to the Ocean and beaches, Ninety minutes to the mountains and 15 minutes to a major city like Philadelphia an hour and a half to New York. We also have one of the most favorable climates, a true temperate climate. If you don't think that this area isn't nice then why would 40 million people live within two hours of it? I love to travel. It's nice to see new places and o...

Hello and thanks for reading this. This is my first of many comments on our new Main Street Designation. I have lived in Maple Shade Most of my life. From my prospective it was a great place to grow up. Being a part of the boomer generation anywhere with a lot of kids your age ,I guess, would have been a great place to live. But even now when there are not as many youngsters, the town hasn't lost it's family atmosphere. This is still a great place to grow up. The town has changed in quite a few ways over the years. Most of the available land has been devoloped but our township officials did have the forthought to aquire enough land for parks and playgrounds. Our sports facilities are well maintained and numerous. Our schools have been recently updated and the educational programs have b...
