one of my childhood 'heroes' pass away.  The death of Gary Coleman left me very melancholy, I wasn't a huge fan, but did watch the show religiously when I was younger. One takes these people for granted because they always seem to be 'there.'  I never thought twice about Gary Coleman all these years, except when I heard him on Howard Stern or The Insider, and even then I thought the guy was a tragic figure, I felt bad for him for all that he's been thru. When I learned he died I felt like a little bit of more of my childhood was gone, I know it's part of getting older and eventually everyone does die.  What makes it more poignant is that he was only 42, heck I'm 41 myself.  It's very tragic to lose a young person, and I feel extremely sad for his family for they have outlived their son....

petty people.  My customers from yesterday ended up calling me this morning and evidently if the building were able to drop $100 from the price the noise at the Beer Garden in Jersey City, NJ 07302 would not bother them.  Now the management company prices their apartments to move and this one was priced taking into consideration what goes on downstairs, but as much as I explained there would be no reduction in rent my customers insisted.  I made the call--guess what someone else had taken the apartment--HA, HA! I was extremely happy that this apartment ended up being rented, my customers having been playing two Realtors for the last several weeks as it seems, and evidently they lost the other apartment they may have been vascilating on.  I do apologize if I seem glib, but this is my pro...

Ok, so I get a call yesterday to show some apartments(well I get a lot of those calls), anyway the girl tells me she wants to see the two bedrooms at 89 Wayne St.  We agree to meet at 11AM, ok all is good right?  Well another guy also calls me and wants to see the same apartments at 9AM, ok so I schlep down there to meet him and he doesn't even have the curtesy to show up or call me--no big deal I am early for my 11AM appointment. The young lady shows up with her parents--good sign right?  Hold, on...it gets better.  We look at the apartments, and I kind of get the vibe they are so-so on the apartments but may not like the neighborhood.  89 Wayne St Jersey City, NJ 07302, is a nice building but is it the fanciest--NO.  The selling points are that it is 2 blocks away from Grove St PATH s...

Ok, so I start out with a first appointment for a listing in Saddlebrook, NJ.  Next there's a broker luncheon in Jersey City, ok so you got me that's actually fun. I have seven appointments tomorrow for 3 apartments?  What do YOU think will happen?  TWO 2 bedroom apartments at 89 Wayne St Jersey City, NJ 07302, 142-144 Steuben St Jersey City, NJ 07302, and one at 322 First St Jersey City, NJ.  Hopefully someone rents something.   Tonight i am at the Yankee Games NY versus Tampa Bay.  Should be a good game, Tampa is on a hot streak, and Yankees lost last night to Boston in a tough one.   We started out in the bleachers, I guess we were the proverbial 'bleecher creatures,' but we eventually moved. We started moving down the third bas side, there really are no bad seats in the Stadium, alt...

Had an easy day today, only three appointments... Started out by going to 225 Grand Jersey City, NJ 07302 with my clients, very nice couple with a 3 week old, the building was great as usual. I was scolded by the marketing director there--AGAIN!  Turns out I can't use my interior shots, so I had to remove all of my ads for the building.  It's really frustrating, but I have to do what is right for the company.   Ok, so then we were off to Portside Towers Jersey City, NJ 07302.  We saw the only 1002 sq ft single bedroom with 1.5 baths and a balcony, really nice space, but my clients definitely needed two bedrooms, great space though, I hope I can find someone else for it during th week. Our next building was Liberty Towers, we looked at a 2 bedroom apartment with just over 1000 sq ft, ver...

I realy was earning my bacon yesterday.  I had 9 appointments--whew!  My 9:30AM appointment I showed the Morgan Lofts to 142-144 Steuben St Jersey City, NJ 07302.  She didn't like the 3 bedroom, but I always show the Penthouse just for kicks, the kids ran up there and picked out their bedrooms and that was that.  She made an offer but I doubt it will be accepted, but I have to present all offers!   My second appointment at 11:00AM, TOOK the place at 295 York St Jersey City, NJ 07302.  This place was a great deal for $1450, directly across from Van Vorst Park.  I have shown it several times, but no takers.  It's a 600 sq ft apartment for $1450, two block from the Grove St PATH, how can you beat it.  I had several clients tell me it wasn't worth it, but I beg to differ and obviously I fou...

Well, you wins some you lose some, had a really great ad on Craigslist for 225 Grand, but was asked to take it down.  I thought the ad was great but the building management didn't.  This really is a nice building in Paulus Hook/Downtown.  I really played on the whole parking situation in Jersey City--really the ad was brilliant!     What do you guys think?

I have to tell you I was in one of the most beautiful building in Jersey City today.  225 Grand St, is the newest luxury rental building in Jersey City.  It site directly across from our office.  I had my first appointment in there today and it was quite the treat.  The building is gorgeous.  The finishes are qurtz countertops, cherrywood cabinets and stainless steel appliances.  The prices are really great also, we saw a 746 sq ft one bedroom apartment for $1844, which is a prettygood but for downtown Jersey City.    The apartments are grea, I believe they have just released up to the 6th floor. Give me a call when you want to see it, we are right across the street and can get you in after hours!

Had a pretty busy day yesterday.  I looked a several loft apartments with a very challenging client, which I think she found a place, but today is another day!  There are so many interesting loft apartments in Jersey City, I am still amazed.  It's great to see all these amazing buildings being retasked, the old building really do have such charm and character. Hamilton Square was great, beautiful loft apartments, a little fancy schmancy for my taste, but really nice overall! The Majestic is a hostoric thatre which has been restored, the apartments are beautiful  This is actually a condominium complex with one bedrooms starting at upwards of $600,000--God Bless them!  They are all sold out, eveidently everyone who lives here has never moved because the building is so nice!  Right now the...

'Goodfella' in Jersey City Another famous face in Jersey City, NJ last week... Paul Sorvino, the actor who played the infamous mob boss Paul Cicero in Martin Scorsese's "Goodfellas", sat outside the Barge Inn Restaurant in Jersey City during a break on the set of his new mafia themed film entitled "Lily of the Feast".  In addition to the Barge Inn Restaurant, the film will be shot at Pecoraro Bakery on Newark Avenue in Jersey City.  Jersey City has been familiar territory for Paul Sorvino for many years.  "My brothers lived here for almost 50 years and I've been in Jersey City many, many times," Sorvino said.  "(Jersey City's) perfect.  It's a neighborhood location.  It's perfect."

I regret that there are times when I really can't help find an apartment.  Short term rentals are usually the case, most landlords/management companies DO NOT want to do a short term rental.  Why you ask?  I think it's fairly obvious, a landlords thinking must be like this "why should I rent out my place for 4 months when I can get someone to rent it for a year?"  I personally think that is extremely short sighted, since I would like to have my place rented--PERIOD!  If I could guarantee myself some income albeit for 4 or 5 or 6 months, why not take it and then worry about it again after the time has passed.  I had several calls this past week for short term but wasn't able to find anything.  The other thing to consider also, landlords aren't willing to pay the Realtor fee for a short t...

I am extremely embarrassed that I fell asleep on the exclusive listings in our office.  These are moderately priced apartments in Jersey City, NJ, several are in the downtown area, a couple in Paulus Hook.  I did 3 deals this week and have 2 more in the hopper.  I've been running around renting apartments at Liberty Towers, 70 Greene, Hudson Pointe, Newport, Grove Pointe and 50 Columbus and these gems were sitting there being ignored by me. Obviously we are all watching what we spend on houing as well as anything else, but these apartments are really a deal.  Do you have the amenities of Liberty Towers or 70 Greene--NO, but then again for the price you're not expecting it.  I only hope I can get more inventory from the management company for these really great apartments. We are making ...

I have several LEGITIMATE buyer clients--WOOHOO!  The rentals are paying the bills right now, I'm a little bummed that I didn't get to take some listings this week. We had our Hudson Valley Realtor COnvention this ast week.  Everything went extremely well.  I am very excited for the chairperson of our committee, it really was with her passion and exuberance that she actually made it happen.  Judging from the reactions so far everything went very well.  The planning for next years convention will seemingly be right around the corner before you know it.

Yes, it has been a while since I last posted.  A lot of exciting things going on.  First the business in Jersey City is brisk, still a lot of inventory, but things seem to be picking up.  I did two rental deals yesterday, hopefully will get the deal from last night approved today.  We looked at several places with a young lady from Germany working for a Swiss Company that does prefab houses. We ended up getting a a place at Newport, there were great deals there.  She actually came in with a realsitic budget, most people come in and want a 1 bedroom for $1600, well that apartment hasn't been built yet!  But we ended up with something I believe she will like.  I was a little disturbed that she still wanted to look even though she thought the place was perfect, she said "well you're availa...
