If you live in or travel through Clark, you may find getting around to be a bit more hectic next week.  Conrail has announced that they will be doing construction on the Railroad Crossing on Westfield Avenue beginning on Monday, May 8th.  The construction will completely close Westfield Avenue between Terminal Avenue and Lamberts Mill Road.  Fortunately, the construction will only last through Thursday the 11th and then that section of the road will re-open.  "The railroad crossing will be closed Monday through Thursday of next week, 24 hours a day," according to Clark Chief of Police Pedro Matos. "That's a complete road closure at that point."Make sure to plan an alternate route to avoid the construction.

Homeowners report higher life satisfaction and higher self esteem. Homeowners are more politically active than non-homeowners and are more likely to participate in voluntary organizations and to attend church. Buying a home costs less than renting a home. The children of homeowners are more likely to stay in school and have higher levels of academic achievement than the children of renters. Owning a home provides family stability. Then there are the tax benefits. Homeowners can deduct: points paid on your mortgage. interest paid on your mortgage. property taxes paid on your residence. origination fees on your ...

As area experts, we can tell you that the Clark Real Estate Market was simply outstanding in 2016. So, how does 2016 compare to the previous several years? Firstly, inventory is down. This is an excellent indicator of a seller's market.   In 2013, the average inventory was 91 homes. However, in 2016, the average inventory 76 homes. This is an excellent indicator of a seller's market.  Overall, sales are up. In 2013, 130 single family homes were sold, compared to 167 homes sold in 2016. Lower inventory leads to increased demand, this tends to drive prices up. As A and B above show, prices are up!  The average sale price of a home in Clark in 2013 was sold for $360,138.   In 2016 the average sale price was up by 20% at $433,397. The Active Days on Market is down, another good indicator. ...

In 1966 the Clark Public Library moved from a storefront in a strip mall to the building on Westfield Avenue where it now resides.  The current building has changed having a major addition several years ago.  But on Friday, November 18th the Library will formally celebrate 50 years in the same location. The 21 and over only event runs from 5:30pm to 7:30pm.  Wine and cheese will be served.  The event will be themed around 1966.  There will be "groovy" music, a 50/50 and lots of interesting things from 1966 on display. There will be flash cubes (you're dating yourself if you know what those are), typewriters, rotary phones and many other things on display that were high tech for the time but are now obsolete.  This is a great event to come out, see the library and have a great time.  Admis...

Just about one year ago this week, the first store at the Clark Commons opened.  The grand opening of the Modell's store, where members of the NY Giants were in attendance for the ribbon cutting and to do signings. Now it's a year later and all the stores and restaurants are open.  The anchor of the Commons is the Whole Foods, this store is absolutely beautiful and features the Clark Bar, a beer and burger bar.  There are are at least seven restaurants to satisfy any appetite in the Commons.  Some other stores are Michael's, Dress Barn, Petco, 5 Below and Home Goods to name a few.  There's also a PNC Bank branch and a large LA Fitness Facility. This complex has added a lot of new jobs to Clark.  With such easy access from the Garden State Parkway the Clark Commons is becoming the place to...

Selling a home in Union County can be a long, arduous process, or it can be quick and easy - it all depends on 3 factors: Condition. Is your home updated? Is it clean and uncluttered? Is it convenient for agents to show? Pricing. Is your home priced competitively? Are you attracting buyers in the price range that your home is actually valued? Marketing. Does your listing agent have an aggressive marketing campaign that includes print and digital marketing? A fourth factor, over which you do not necessarily have control, is location. Within Union County, the length of time it takes to sell a home can vary from town to town.  Here is a comparison of the Days on Market for homes that sold in each town of Union County in June of 2016.  While the aveage Union County home sold after 52 days, ...
