Moosilauke Brook and Lost River join just above Indian Leap - A/K/A Agassiz Basin, the rocks are decidedly prehistoric in feel, the wear of time has cut a serious chasm in the hard Granite ledge .The waterways have carved this deep cavern with 30 foot or more drops from the ledge to the water below. Keep an eye on the little ones when you visit these smooth stones can be dangerous. This site is about 2 miles from the intersection of Rte 3 and Rte 112...Lost river road...is The Kancamagus highway until it reaches the village of Woodstock New Hampshire...where it is renamed Lost River Road.    The narrow chasm is not far across but what a drop....young braves were teste...

A really quick White Mountain New Hampshire Brook Hike...I snapped a few fast photos before it got too dark to see the water, woods and mossy rocks.  >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>><<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<   OOOOOOOOOOH   AAAAAAAAAH      Some darker recesses are still very green.     A little foliage on my September brook hike.    A trickle or a rush the sound changes with each step deeper in to the woods.      This pool size opening in the forest was enough to let in a bit more light...and brighten the foliage.      The last light of the day and time to turn around...and get back to the house before dark.    Darkness descends on moving water and slippery rocks....home again and photos loaded for you to see. To view all  the area White Mountain New Hampshire proper...

Foliage golf with a good friend at the Jack O'Lantern resort. This flat course runs along the river, it was       once farm land know for it's pumpkin harvest.   these photos show you the color on the first full day of Autumn 2010.      The sky and the river was a stark blue contrast to the reds ,golds, and burgundy of the trees.    White mountain foliage along the Pemigewasset river in New Hampshire.     Covered bridge and bright orange bushes.     meandering river and fall foliage  colors.                                                                         Really nice day for a round of golf in New Hampshire I hope you enjoyed the colors                                       as much as I enjoyed taking the pictures, and of course playing golf in the White                    ...

It's getting dark too early I couldn't complete 18 holes after work tonight...I was chased by a moose and got a bad shot of him, he way too far away by the time I found my camera I hope you can make him out it was pretty cool seeing a moose up really close. I did get some good shots of the beautiful leaves and the slow rolling river. You can't go out at 5:15 and get 18 in anymore this is the true signal fall has arrived.                     The river was calm and the late day rays of the sun cast a rather cool glow tonight.             Second hole still some sun and blue Sky's.   Rounding the dog leg sixth hole...losing the sun fast.    Made it out to hole number eight.    Starting to get dark near the tenth hole.    I decided to skip 5 holes and finished up the last few the covered bri...

We are not at full color in the North East yet...but it is coming. Here is my back yard down by the river, this low valley has a bit of foliage but the higher elevations will have much more. Sunday 9/19/10 current shot Closer to the Franconia notch, the Kancamagus scenic highway and the 4,000+ foot elevation mountains in the White mountain National Forest, the cold nights have started the color change process sooner.    This picture was taken from a half acre home site I have listed for $100,000...more about this listings                 Taken September 18, 2010  on Grandview Drive in Woodstock New Hampshire  This is a shot of rte 112, also know as the Kancamagus scenic highway, taken from a rest stop called Otter rocks. This time of year it makes for a great place to picnic (there are ...

Sun Up on Birch Hollow Have a look at the Birch trees..                                                        This White Birch is near the end of it's life cycle...this baby is huge.                       A few of the trees in the Hollow are starting to turn red, the tips of this small maple are showing fall foliage.                   I liked the reflection of the clouds and blue sky in this calm section of the Pemi River as the dark set in.     The Sun goes down on Birch Hollow....      Back from  my walk ...goodnight Birch Hollow.

With 235 condos and a dozen different floor plans there is something for every one at this great resort. Fall foliage is beginning to show it's color, and this shot of the Deer Park Lake and club house gives you some idea of the great common areas available for all the owners and tenant in this resort. The same lake blanketed in white takes on a decidedly different feel, the mountain peaks in the back ground are a beautiful site from most of the available properties at deer Park.           When the temperature goes below freezing it is time for a hot tub ,heated pool, sauna or a brisk work out in the gym. The Club house also features two racket-ball courts, game room and kitchen facilities for seasonal parties and functions.                       My listings run the full range of price ...

I started my day like most in the real estate business , looking at the emails and requests for information.   "I am considering buying in your area and wish to find out more about the towns near by?" Thank you for your inquiry, My primary towns that I have listings in, share a school district they are Lincoln & Woodstock New Hampshire, both are in excess of 90% National forest land meaning all of the development commercial and residential is confined to less than 10% of the towns land area.  "Tell me more about the schools , tax burden and the diversity of the towns?" With mostly Vacation homes in this ski Resort area, our Graduating class is typically 30 or less students each year. This means we have one of the lowest tax burdens in the state...and New Hampshire has no income tax or b...

For us this was a two-fer, we had planned on dinner at Govoni's restaurant in Woodstock New Hampshire anyway, but we also love the Waterfall directly behind the venue as well. It really makes waiting to be seated  enjoyable, and of course many people not there for dinner were there to explore lost river. If you haven't been to the lost river caves that is a great place to spend a hot august day. they are mostly shaded and cool in more ways than one.   The Story of Lost River Caves:  The first documented exploration of Lost River took place in 1852. Similar to Alice’s tumble down the rabbit hole in Alice in Wonderland, local historian Elmer E. Woodbury related in his writings how the Jackman brothers, Royal and Lyman were busily fishing along the stream, working their way over and around...

Wordless Wednesday...A quick kayak, a stolen lunch and a day with my gal.  My poor kayaks have been sitting on the wood pile since last Summer...but we hit the water today. Visited by Raccoons.   Bandits!!   A day on the river with my gal...reward for a hard paddle, the grape. Life in the White Mountains of New Hampshire...I know a good Realtor who can find you a place on the river.

I would spend more time outdoors if I could, I have my coffee outside and if there is no rain in the forecast it is likely dinner will be by way of the BBQ. This little guy is my latest visitor, he was hopping around the field behind the house and his curious dance caught my attention. Upon further (Zoom lens) investigation he was catching crickets...while looking for larger prey. We have ceased to have a mouse and mole problem in our fields, and little "Red" may be a self-appointed exterminator.            This is a new addition to the Birch Hollow Zoo, this hemlock tree has been used to hang our bird feeders and one of our other neighbors visits it regularly.                                                                                                                 What is it abou...

For the second day in a row I hit the links and hit the pond after I was done. In 90 Degree weather...you need a cool down plan. I promise no pictures of me in swimming trunks. But my son will add some action shots to the post. We have been working on a one acre water hazard in our yard...it is being put to use  this week.                           Running start                                                                         push off                                Long Jump                                                            Splash down                            Conor was one of the top triple jumpers in the state and applies the training to our pond when it's this hot.  The river is looking quite inviting as the temps hit 93.   Take me to the River!   Echo Lake: base of...

Another Holiday is upon us, I have begun to think about what I would rather be doing than sitting at my desk.                    On July 3rd.   I know this hint is a bit subtle but can you guess where I would rather be?            Or maybe by the river.   I keep seeing the tubes, kayaks and canoes strapped to roofs going by my office and it's not 5pm yet.      Maybe an after work hike?   On days right before a Holiday it's tough to keep your mind on work...when this is what is outside my door.  Golf will be crowded...the trails busy, but I know the Hammock in my yard...has priority seating                    the guy that owns the Hammock gets to recline first.     Happy Birthday America…enjoy the 4th !!

I came in for a rental showing, but promised my wife I would work on the Honey -Do-List. I made plans to go to Home Depot to get the things I needed, I have to re-build the back stairs before some fat visitor ends up on the ground. I really must get my rear in gear, and get this project started. But First a stroll to the stream, the sun was so nice and water sparkling...it's hard to do home improvements when it is this nice out. You see my dilemma, who can go back to power tools when you would rather be off in the woods. The biting sound of blade on wood or the rushing water of a stream...No excuses back to work. When I went back to the garage to find the right size drill bit I spied my Hammock stored for the winter...I think I have figured out the reward when the job is done. (this is ...

Deer Park Woodstock New Hampshire   Forget the sales pitch…Yeah I have a few condos for sale at this resort, and yeah I would like to sell them, but what I really want my readers to see is the cool pictures. The Resort is called Deer Park, it is in the White mountains of New Hampshire, and it has a long section of river frontage and a private pond on the property. That would be cool all by itself, but that is not all, this location offers.   The recreation center has views of the near by ski trails at Loon Mountain in Lincoln NH. You can walk to the quaint town of Woodstock, visit a brew pub, rent a kayak or go for a hike. The White Mountain National Forest abuts the resort, and you can hike on 800,000 acres from this spot.   If your family is in to the attraction scene here is what i...

Deer Park…end of the ski season price reductions. If you have been waiting to score your best deal on resort property now is the time to look at the communities with the best amenities and motivated sellers.   It’s been said “PRICE” is the ultimate amenity! That is a major factor in seeing the deal come together, when the value is obvious, the location first rate and the opportunity is limited then it is time to pull the trigger?   A Community lake at the center of the resort is a great asset!                                                How many ski resorts in the Northeast also have a lake as part of their common area? Not many I would guess. How about mountain views when the fall foliage is in full color, and shuttle service to the ski area just a couple miles away.   This one ha...

We all get use to our surroundings to the point that they fade in to the back ground. While showing a property yesterday I was heading up the highway...when my client said "Wow Look at this view", I replied "this is the exit ramp I take every day to go to work and I see this under all types of lighting and conditions each and every day".         My Highway to heaven view enjoy...the White Mountain scene from January 13th 2010.   Interstate Route 93 Woodstock New Hampshire views of Franconia Notch State park...you can just make out          the tower on the top of Cannon Mountain far left highest peak is the Top of the Tram & weather antenna.
