Baker Home Inspection and Consulting Blog   You are always welcome to visit   Knowledge is Your Power For The Freedom of a Worry- Free Home!   Drainage is very importand, to you and to your home. If you have to much surface water percolates down to the bottom of the foundation, you'll end up with water oozing up between the floor slab and wall of the foundation. You'll start seen puddles forming on your cellar floor. When I'm walken around the exterior perimeter of the home, you and your family have picked to buy. I look for sunken areas and for what can appear to be small tunnels have formed, where the surface water has seeped through the foundation wall of the home. One way to fix this, if I should find this going on at the home. Is to put in a French drain. By using a French drain...

Baker Home Inspection and Consulting Blog You are always welcome to visit Knowledge is Your Power For The Freedom of a Worry- Free Home!   When I'm walking around the site of the home. You and your family have picked to buy. A few questions that I ask myself. Does the property slope so that rain and melting snow drain's away from this home? Does the water drain off the property, if so where does it go? Are there places that it remain in pools on the property? When I first arrive at the home to be inspected, I look to see if the home is build on a high part of the property. An ideal spot is a knoll or rise from which the property slopes away in all directions. A gentle sloping is also good. Problems can develop when water runs off across the property, or runs from other areas down towar...

Baker Home Inspection and Consulting Blog You are always welcome to visit Knowledge is Your Power For The Freedom of a Worry- Free Home! No other single element is more important in the selection of a home than its location. Checken out a location for livability and investment potential may take a bit of time, but its worth it, to you and your family. While the structure of a home is a important aspect of construction, a homebuyer should also consider the arrangement of the site the home is builded on, like the placement of the home on the lot, driveway, outdoor living areas, trees, shrubs. All of these outdoor fixtures fall under the landscaping. The landscaping around a home can increase or decrease the value of the home up to 25 percent. Because of this, your Home Inspector should a...

Baker Home Inspection and Consulting Blog You are always welcome to visit Knowledge is Your Power For The Freedom of a Worry- Free Home!     On this inspection: I found more than one section of the flex duct was sagging excessively, in the crawl space of the home. The flex duct was loose and sagging because of a broken strap. That should have been holding it at the front, on the right side. It's recommended by the Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors National Association. When using this kind of duct, it should not sag any more than 1/2 inch per foot between supports. Recommended that either my client or the seller's, should have, a qualified heating and cooling company come and evaluate and repair as necessary. Mold on the underside of a subfloor The crawl space of the home this Inspection took place, was dry, and had no sign of water infiltration problems of any kind.      The mold that is present on the underside of just about every part of the subfloor. Of a new construction. Was most likely from the construction phase of the home. Wet from rain and snow before the roof was on and day papered. The mold appeared to be inactive, as there was no source of moisture for it to keep growing. The mold needs to be completely removed and treated. Seen that it very will could rapidly multiply if any water at all is introduved via any kind of leak from the plumbing...

There is movement taken place within us even as we sleep and especially when each of us dreams. Movement is the vehicle for change. There will always be change in our daily lives, either to greater awareness, or deeper denial. Our arrows will either strengthen our heartbeat or weaken it. Our arrows have a source and a target. Baker Home Inspection and Consulting Blog You are always welcome to visit Knowledge is Your Power For The Freedom of a Worry- Free Home!                         The Texas Rangers and the Texas Navy both had an important role in the safety of the Republic of Texas from 1836 - 1845 before Texas joined the Union. Most of the settlers that came to Texas, came by way of the sea via New Orleans or Mobile to the ports at Galveton Bay, Brazoria, or Matagorda Bay.
