La Vista Daze 2010 The annual La Vista Daze festival is scheduled for Memorial Day weekend. The theme is "Solid Gold: 50th Anniversary Celebration" to celebrate the 50th anniversary of La Vista NE. One of the highlights of the celebration include the La Vista Daze Parade. The parade starts Saturday May 29th at 1:00 at 87th and Park View Blvd and ends at Central Park on Edgewood Blvd. Other events include a Community Cookout, free concert by The Noteables, Dodgeball Challenge, and Fireworks.   05/29/2010

 Yahoo for Yahoo in Omaha Last week La Vista joined hands with Sunnyvale, California.  Seems like the appropriate thing to do when winter just won't leave.  This was not about weather.  It was a sought after business venture.  Yahoo, a company out of Sunnyvale opened the company's new data center in La Vista (part of the Omaha Metropolitan area) on 108th and Giles Rd.  The center will consist of equipment and computers that will service Yahoo throughout the country.   Eventually the center will house 100,000 computers. La Vista Days will begin Thursday and run through Sunday.  This is a celebration that brings back fond childhood memories of living close to a small town.  There was the parade we attended.  We wandered by the many display booths while eating cotton candy.  And, we eagerly awaited the pet contest.  Amid much fanfare and fun, we  watched as blue ribbons were awarded to the fattest cat, the blackest cat, and the whitest cat --- the only three cats in the contest!! While the economy is causing Microsoft to temporarily put the brakes on construction of a data center in West Des Moines, Yahoo is proceeding with its plans for a data center in the Omaha area.  It will build a data center at 109th and Giles Road in La Vista in the building that used to be Tender Heart Treasures.  Yahoo also has plans to build a data center in Council Bluffs. Over the past year, I have sold several New Celebrity Homes in Omaha, NE.  The other day I requested a price sheet from Monica Lang.  She mentioned the new area in Cimarron Woods in La Vista. I thought, "What!" She said, "Celebrity Homes in Omaha bought the remaining lots in the Cimarron Woods East area."  They plan to build larger two story and ranch homes in the area.  This is the second subdivision that Celebrity Homes has bought up the remaining lots, the other being Giles Corner (72nd and Harrison). One thing to consider when building a new home in Omaha, NE is how many lots in the subdivision have sold.  The more lots sold the less likely this could happen to you.  Secondly, if you are one of the first homes built in area and it is slow to develop, you may have higher property tax... 10/11/2008

When I decided to post business profiles of Omaha metro area businesses to my blog, I had to make a decision on what would qualify a business for a post.
