No, we are NOT talking about the plummer.Admittedly I am not the best at celestial photography, even with my new camera. Yes I should have used a tripod and a slow setting but I was in a bit of a hurry. Unfortunately last night we had cloudy skies but this morning was perfect for photographing the supermoon and I had to at least try to get a shot of it.For information on the supermoon you can do as I did and click this link to the article on Wikipedia. For information on Super Real Estate Service in Minot ND stop in our office at 1919 North Broadway and/or check out our website at Timm.Realtor .

Nancy B. is a regular contributor to The Minot Daily News and I usually agree with her opinion when she puts it in print. Today however her words made me see red and I want to say: Nancy, your words prove you to be ignorant and offensive! Just so you know the context of her letter she is taking the City to task for buying out several homes (about 30) in a particular area that was affected in the flood of 2011. The offensive words in her eight paragraph letter were:  Once again I will say “Nancy, your words prove you to be ignorant and offensive!” 1)      Realtors do not set the price of the homes listed. Realtors make a reasonable commission on the selling price of a home. If the home is not priced right it doesn’t sell and the Realtor makes nothing despite the time and expenses they pu...

While I don't believe in man made global warming I certainly believe in global warming and cooling, after all there is tons of fossil evidence to prove dinosaurs and tropical vegetation was bountiful in North Dakota (and don't tell me it was man made back then). Any way, I hope you like my little video about the GREAT weather we have been experiencing.

A Good Week For Sellers In Minot NDWe had 11 closings this week (almost twice as many as last week), in our very narrow category of stick-built single family homes within the City limits of Minot. Of the homes that closed this week the average days on market was 78, a very nice improvement over last week’s 85 days and maybe the shortest selling cycle I’ve seen all year.  The chart above is the total MLS activity for the week. This includes ALL types of properties as well as all cities in our MLS. The chart below is very restrictive as explained below.Be sure to note the line above as this is a very restrictive report. There 11 homes sold in this limited category, a big increase over last week’s 6. The most expensive home sold for $639,900. and it was on the market for 159 days. The leas...

Do you participate in "Realtor Ring Day"? Realtor Ring Day started right here in Minot ND and has been spreading across the country through the local and State Realtor Associations. One day out of the Holiday season many of the 200 Minot Realtors volunteer for a 3 hour shift of bell ringing at one of the many sites that The Salvation Army has one of their red kettles set up for donations. The money we help bring in on that one day is a HUGE chunk of Minot's Salvation Army's annual budget.I hope your neighborhood has a Realtor Ring The Bell Day. If not the Minot Association of Realtors would be glad to get information to you about how to set it up in your community. If you can not participate by ringing the bell I hope you will participate by giving generously this holiday season. The Salva...

I don't know the official name of this art work (or who created it) but I'm calling it "Up A Tree". I think it's a brilliant piece of art. This artistic creation is in the Northern portion of Roosevelt Park near my home. Roosevelt park is not a very large park but it has a lot to offer the people of Minot ND.There are a lot of Real Estate analogies one could draw from this sculpture. My favorites would be #1) National Marketing Realtors won't leave you feeling like your up a tree. #2) Like a mighty tree National Marketing Realtors will support you and your family. I'm sure you can think of more.

We only had 4 closings this week in our very narrow category of stick-built single family homes within the City limits of Minot but over-all with the townhouses and condo's sold it was a pretty good week for Real Estate sales in Minot. Of the homes that closed this week the average days on market was 82, a slight improvement over last week’s 84 days. The chart above is the total MLS activity for the week. This includes ALL types of properties as well as all cities in our MLS. The chart below is very restrictive as explained below.  Be sure to note the line above as this is a very restrictive report. What a difference a day makes!YesterdayThis morningBy the time I left for home this afternoon there was NO evidence of this building existing. I thought it was kind of sad as the building wasn't that old and I thought it was an attractive building. As you may have guessed it had to come down because the government was involved. The FAA paid for most of the new airport terminal and if the City wanted the money for that the old one had to be tore down. I guess that makes sense to some bureaucrat somewhere.

Homeowners, Take A Lesson From Renters. While most of us homeowners have a hard time grasping the concept of renting there is something we should learn from our renting friends. It’s OK to have (accept) an unrecoverable value to having a roof over your head. The Renter pays $1,000 a month and at the end of 3 years he/she has spent $36,000 and says “I’m glad I had a roof over my head”.The Homeowner pays $1,000 a month and at the end of 3 years he/she sells their house and says “with closing costs and commissions I only broke even… dang it!” Putting things into perspective the Homeowner should be saying “Hallelujah” I’ve lived here 3 years rent free! Every homeowner wants to make a profit when they sell a home. It doesn’t always work out that way due to market conditions, owners pride (up...

We only had 6 closings this week (less than half of last week), in our very narrow category of stick-built single family homes within the City limits of Minot. Of the homes that closed this week the average days on market was 85, a very nice improvement over last week’s 118 days. I omitted one sale in this report because it was a unrestored flood home that sold for $37,900 ($19.38 per square foot) after 269 days on market. The chart above is the total MLS activity for the week. This includes ALL types of properties as well as all cities in our MLS. The chart below is very restrictive as explained below. Be sure to note the line above as this is a very restrictive report. The days of good weather house hunting are coming to an end soon and the chances of great weather on a Sunday are an extreme gamble. Did you know you can call me to look at homes in Minot any day of the week? If we are going to look at occupied homes we need to give the home owner a minimum of one hours notice but if it's vacant I can meet you there in a matter of minutes. Give me a call next time you are in the mood to house hunt. Bob Timm, office phone number 701-852-1197, text 701-720-8513.

In August I wrote a post about Soo 735 getting a face lift. Soo 735 being an old steam engine that has been sitting as a display in the Roosevelt Park Zoo rusting away.Today Soo 735 is a new girl. They sandblasted every inch of her, got rid of the rust and gave her a new paint job. It appears to me they may have also repaired/replaced a few items as well. With no further ado here she is. Compare these pictures to the ones linked above from my previous post to see the quality of work done on Soo 735. On the picture above you can see a brass valve. I don't remember her having brass before but it could be that the brass was greatly tarnished or that it was added during this restoration.

Every room is BIG and that feeling is amplified by the 9' walls and all the natural lighting that floods the house. I just put together this slide presentation of Minot North Dakota. Soon I hope to figure out how to make my audio presentation match the video. I will need to do this by figuring out how to slow down the progression of slides to match my description. In the mean time here is the video with my audio transcript below it. I hope you enjoy it. Minot is nicknamed “The Magic City” and the slogan “Why Not Minot” is helpful in instructing newcomers as to how to pronounce the name Minot. Minot North Dakota is nestled in the Mouse River Valley. The City long out grew the Valley itself since its founding way back in 1886 and is now spread across the plain and through the many scenic Coulees around the Valley. No matter where you are in Minot ND a beautiful view is very near by. Today Minot’s popul...

Minot ND is blessed with having 4 Christian Radio Stations broadcasting over the air. There are 3 FM and one AM stations to choose from. They are all good stations but my favorites are KHRT AM and KHRT FM .KHRT AM is your old fashion Gospel station which is what I grew up on and was very instrumental in my coming to know and accept Jesus as Lord and Savior. KHRT FM is more contemporary and even though I love/loved Rock-N-Roll it is just to similar for me. A Christian artist screaming "Jesus Saves" to a beat I find familial with Aerosmith just doest give me warm fuzzes (and I love Aerosmith).KHRT AM and FM are having their Spring Share-A-Thon. Share-A-Thon is their one week plea for help much like Public TV. They need to do this because they do not accept advertising from any alcohol rel...

We had only 9 closings this week, a significant drop from the 16 of last week but the same as we had two weeks ago. Of the homes that closed this week the average days on market was 89 days (looks a lot better than last week’s 140 days doesn’t it! (Don’t forget last week we had a couple of homes clear that had been on the market for over a year each). The chart above is the total MLS activity for the week. This includes ALL types of properties as well as all cities in our MLS. The chart below is very restrictive as explained below. Be sure to note the line above as this is a very restrictive report.
