I didn't see any of the critters above in the banner but 3 out of 5 of them were with-in a matter of feet from us as our walk was around Roosevelt Park which is just outside of the Roosevelt Park Zoo. I'll skip the flower picks tonight (although I got some for later) and just show you the animal life on the walk. All 3 photos were taken this evening BUT yes that is my backyard bunny.

On my evening walk this lily obviously bloomed just for me so I could show it to you. Truth is I'm always enviouslyof the beautiful lily shots I see here on Active Rain. Roy Kelley always has some amazing shots. This is another photo from one of the gardens in and around The Roosevelt Park and Roosevelt Park Zoo. The Park District does an absolutely amazing job with their gardens and the endless variety of plants they they show us.

Last week I had a couple of enjoyable walks in Minot's two largest parks BUT I also saw disturbing undeniable evidence that Earths impending doom is near. I don't want to be an alarmist but Starbucks beat me to it. The evidence is clear... in just under 80 acres of park land I saw this disturbing site twice: PLASTIC STRAWS!We all know that it's going to lead to this...The MOTHER STRAW looking for her babies, sucking up Earth to find the fate of her baby plastic straws. If you thought the prices at Starbucks was killing us you are wrong! It's their environmental activist attitude that will lead to our doom when MOTHER STRAW hears the cries of her babies from their loneliness as they die off and fade into oblivion... as we will also when we experience Mother Straw's wrath.

07/14/2018This week there were 17 homes sold (closed) in this very narrow category of stick built, single family homes located in the City limits of Minot. A look at the Red chart below shows there were 27 closings overall to include all properties in our MLS. Of the homes that closed this week the average days on market was 81 compared to last weeks 65 days. Over all homes sold slower and for slightly more money per square foot this week. The chart above is the total MLS activity for the week. This includes ALL types of properties as well as all cities in our MLS. The chart below is very restrictive as explained below.Be sure to note the line above as this is a very restrictive report.   This interview took place "on site" at the Ward County Historical Society with Bryan Goetch, Site Director. Brian is an excellent example of how the Minot Air Force Base benefits the greater Minot Area by bringing such high quality young people to our community who often stay after serving our country to raise their families here. After serving our country for 8 years (retiring as a Staff Sargent) Bryan attended Minot State University and graduated with a major in history and a minor in English.Minot Real Estate Today with Bob Timm is broadcast over the air on two Minot radio stations. You can find it each Friday on 106.9 FM just after noon at 12:15 and then again on 1320 AM at 4:45 PM. If you miss today's radio broadcast you can catch it and all Minot Real Estate Today's broadcasts a...

I made it to the Farmers Market just 15 minutes before it opened and managed to get some shots without sustaining personal injury (some of the Farmers Market shoppers are pretty aggressive about defending their territory). I actually wore a "Press Badge" I made and everyone seemed pretty accommodating because of it.Please keep in mind this is North Dakota and the date is July 12th.I don't believe any of the crops sold here came to maturity without the help of a green house or some other type of shelter being we most likely had snow on frozen ground just two months ago. Also because of our short growing season many farmers wives supliment the family income by selling baked goods at our farmers market. At this point, of the dozen booths there, half were baked goods. Being those goods are s...

Well, I went to Monday's Farmers Market (the 1st of the year) in hopes of getting some great pictures like A. of Ron and Alexandra Seigel does but Holy Cow! Talk about a mad house... the majority of the entire market was sold out in 15 minutes. I swear some of those grannies would have pulled their 357's on me if I asked them to wait while I took a photograph.Arts In the Park is more my speed. If I have any energy left at 7:00 that is where you will find me.Let's talk about the benefit for Abby. Abby was struck by an unmanned Jet Ski on Strawberry Lake a few weeks ago while tubing with a friend. Her friend was killed and Abby was severely injured. The benefit will be held at South Prairie School on July 12th, with a free will offering dinner from 4-7, followed by a live auction starting...

Let me clarify, dine to donate is not an event for boosting beavers (the animal) but Minot State University's Beavers. I'm sure I didn't need to clarify that but just in case.I may attend the Ward Co. Historical Society Meeting as I will be seeing the president earlier in the day for my next interview on the radio broadcast of Minot Real Estate Today. For new parents I encourage you to take advantage of the FREE car seat check at Ryan Honda. I know we did and it was well worth it.Not on the list above but recommend by myself would be:There is a "Safe Sitter" class at Trinity. Call Trinity for details. At the American Red Cross there is a course on how to spot a stroke in 10 minutes 9 - 3:30. Call the Red Cross for details.Minot Farmers Market opening day! With the idea of staying cool let me suggest you listen to Friday's radio broadcast which I posted in podcast form HERE .Aside from spending a day (which you easily could) at North Hill Bowl where the temp is always 70 degrees I'm probably going to spend the earliest part of the morning in the park. However temps are projected to jump into the upper 90's very early on Saturday. As a coffee fan I'm eager to check out the grand opening of With Room Coffee. I'd also like an explanation of the strange name. Located at 400 E Central Ave.If it wasn't going to be closing in on 100 degrees I'd check out the Firefighters workout in Oak Park from 10:00 to 11:00 AM.Dakota Square Mall is also a good place to beat the heat and you can attend the JelleyBeanStreet fingerpainting festival. Proceeds go t...

Being the Minot Daily News only posted one (reoccurring) event for Friday it left me a little lost and confused so I had to work a bit harder for this post. The event they did mention is MSU's Summer Theatre presentation of One Summer Night. The other events I scrapped together were:The Taube Art Museum presents an art class for toddlers ages 2 and 3, Feathered Friends.Andrea Donovan will be at Art Space another day or two. If you missed my comment yesterday you may want to go back and check it out. There will be a hymnal sing at the old church on the Ward County Pioneer Museum. That's all I've got for special events BUT on my radio broadcast tomorrow my guest is Rory Selk of North Hill Bowl! Of course listening to my radio broadcast is an event in itself HOWEVER considering the outdoor tem...

If the 4th of July just got your motor running you will be glad to see a full schedule of events for the 5th!I'm going to make it another day in the Park. I can't tell you anything about the Jensen Sisters or visual artist Kim Whittemore right now but I will after the concert. The Souris Valley Sabre Dogs are back in town after 5 days on the road. Good chance you will catch me there as well.I'm also looking forward to seeing the art of Dr. Andrea Donovan at Artspace. Andrea has a ph.D. in European and Art History and teaches at Minot State University. Andrea says:Artists Statement:I love to travel and look at the land, the mountains, the water, and the skies. Every place has such unique characteristics. These combined characteristics invoke the spirit of the place, the essence of what ma...

No doubt about it, I will be at the Roosevelt Park 4th of July celebration for the day. There is a $5.00 fee per adult but it's free for children 12 and under. It kicks off at 9:30 AM and runs till 11:59 PM. There is to much to this event for me to tell you about here so check it out at VisitMinot.org .There is a pretty good chance I'll go eat pancakes at the Flag Raising Ceremony offered by the Mormons. After a one year hiatus the July 4th Fireworks Display is back at the Nodak Speedway. Last year the funding was not available to put on the display that had been a custom in Minot for decades. I admit that this is not my thing as I'm in bed by then BUT if you like great fireworks displays then by all means get out and support it.Ooops, I almost overlooked the celebration at the Dakota A...

I apologize for getting a day behind on posting Minot's events. No excuses, I just got caught up in family things and forgot to post yesterday.I sure did enjoy the Minot City Band yesterday at Oak Park. It was well attended. I was a little disappointed that the scheduled visual artist had not shown up by the time we left the scene.I hate to admit it but there is actually nothing on today's or tomorrows schedule that will probably get me out of my house or out of my yard BUT like most people I think I'll be preparing for the 4th of July celebrations (which I will be posting about tomorrow).I do want to share a quick story I saw on a local Minot neighborhood blog. A woman complained that a neighbor had lit off some large fireworks in town (against the law in Minot City Limits) late Friday...
