Wesley Chapel NC is ten years old and the town is throwing a birthday party Saturday September 6, 2008.  The celebration will take place at Village Commons Shopping Center, which is the "downtown" for the village.  Like many other areas in Union County NC, Wesley Chapel incorporated in 1998 to control its growth and maintain its relatively rural nature. The YMCA has submitted a proposal to the town of Wesley Chapel to build a YMCA facility. The facility would be built near the corner of Hwy 84 and Waxhaw-Indian Trail Rd. At one time this spot was set aside for the Town Hall. The propsal would require the town to donate over 6 acres near where the new Target is being built. The town has formed a committe to study the proposal and what it might expect in return from the YMCA for the land donation. The committe hopes to have some answers by the end of February.
