"I have loved this house more than any other in my life", says the current owner. "The mountains can be seen through almost every window. There's a hot tub on our covered patio and the deck runs down the front and side of the house for great entertaining."   The houses that are the most pleasure to list and sell are the ones that the current owners have loved, respected and maintained. This is all that and more. "Ready to move into" is such a cliche in our industry but the house at 108 Hardrock Road is "turnkey" and "ready to move into".     This approximately 1200 square foot, 3 bedroom and 1 bath house has always been well maintained but from the moment the current owners decided to sell the house they have given the property a lovely spa treatment. Fresh paint inside and out gives ou...

Sometimes if you don't go ahead and take advantage of a good photo op, then you might as well look at yourself in the rear view mirror, call yourself a horse's ass and just get it over with.  Some things won't happen more than once and you'll end up cussing yourself out later.   This photo was taken in the Betty's Creek area and originally posted in 2011.  I remember being so tickled to catch the shot and to not be calling myself a horse's ass today (at least not for this reason).  When I drove by this same area last week the horses were gone and the little building was a shambles.       Timing is everything.

On the way up to a house to pick up our lockbox and sign, I passed Buchanan Farms.  There's almost always something going on around there with either cows, horses or goats.  This time, there were goats with kids.  I pulled over and walked to the fence and immediately the mom goat and two kids walked over.  Within seconds all the goats came to join them and visit for a minute.       Only the bold Buchanan Billy actually stepped on the fence!  Guess there was no electrical current passing through or else that was one tough goat!  Buchanan Billy was taller than me and looked me right in the eye as I was taking the photos.  I remember hearing from friends with goats that goats are natural athletes and great jumpers.  Whoa...that would be awkward to have Buchanan Billy join me on the roads...

Even when we don’t realize it, the posts to our blogs are like a shiny clear window into what’s going on with those of us in real estate during a snapshot of time. My mother and my friends can tell from my blog that this past week has been one of those eight day weeks. You know the kind…a couple of days ago I referred to it as “juggling with jello” and to those of you who loved the analogy will appreciate that this week felt like a marathon of running in quicksand. One of the goals this week was to take photos of our new listing on Timbuktu Road (really, that IS it’s name) in Sunset Summit in Sylva. It was a good note to end the week on and I‘ll get a link to it in here as soon as the photos are finalized. The sellers have done a lot of work outside and the place has a real Zen feel t...

As I reread my title, I realize it sounds like a crop of horses, but it's my title and I'm sticking with it! Horses are growing up in the Savannah community.  This is such a great place to live, you'd think you'd have to drive way off the beaten path to enjoy spectacles like this. Nope, this is 30 seconds from US441. Scenes just like this are little treasures to be enjoyed all over Western North Carolina.   Back on May 27 I posted a photo of a brand new baby horse that I spotted on my way to show a house in the Savannah community.  In case you missed it the firt time...have an early morning awwwwww moment. Here's the baby's picture again.   On my way to again show property in the Savannah area a couple of days ago, I spotted the same young horse and a buddy.  They are growing up fast.  ...

Friday ends with a dance.   There has really been no down time this week...well, except for taking pictures of the little colt in Savannah Township. That was relaxing.    We've shown houses, met new clients, had clients disappear into the wind (do you suppose there is an alternative realty reality where they all are?), negotiated a new contract, lunched with a lender, had a bonfire,  kept up with the 31 Day Challenge, blogged, blogged, blogged...   I have a score of topics to post about, but I think let's mellow out and celebrate Friday by ending this week with one of the coolest dance clips I've ever seen.  Enjoy and have a good weekend.

Did you catch the post a week or so ago called "Horsing Around Jackson County"?  On the way to showing our listing on Timbuktu Road, I encountered this little consequence of horsing around! The baby was very shy and really resembles the mama.  What a treat this was.  I'm going out again tomorrow to get more shots.     Spotless and ready to move into! Consider this attractive cabin as a perfect getaway spot or year-round home. Located at 847 Timbuktu Road in the Savannah Township, the cabin has a spacious main living area and roomy kitchen for easy entertaining. Two bedrooms (master on main plus loft bedroom area) plus two full baths.   The wide covered "rocking chair" front porch and the large covered back deck provides comfortable outdoor living space. Easy access to both Sylva and Fra...
