Enthusiasts move 98-year-old city clock to Fireman’s Museum

The 1910 Seth Thomas-model clock, which operated in downtown New Bern from 1911 to 1999, was moved by the Eastern North Carolina chapter of the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors Saturday. It will now reside in the Fireman's Museum o The 14-foot-tall clock, which operated inside the New Bern Post Office and Customs tower from 1911 to 1999, should be on public display at the museum in July, said Dobert Owsley, chairman of the committee. The men, members of the New Bern tower clock restoration committee, rolled the 1910 Seth Thomas-model clock from the old fire station on Broad Street to the Fireman's Museum on Hancock Street.
