This week I had the opportunity to sit with other local Managing Brokers and listen to the Morehead City Town Manager Randall "Randy" Martin discuss the local budget and cost effective planning from his perspective. "Shining Moments " are discussed as Manager Martin reviews his course of action to maintain low tax rate for citizens while continuing slow growth/ economic development.   tax rate post  Current projects funded and moving along smoothly  include Recreation/Parks and Leisure general fund of 12.7 million (project costs- land owned ) which are building walking trails, fishing piers and a very impressive new ballpark. He found that NOW is a great time to get bid as contractors are competing for business and in return the town is receiving impressive quotes. As a side note :  Wit...

Well, the hook may have got you here but the post may not be what you expected!  As my husband and I enjoyed our weekly lunch at The Ruddy Duck Tavern/ Restaurant located on the    Morehead City Waterfront... this beauty pulled in and docked .... Can you say Sweeeet ! This year we've added a wooden runabout to our Goal Setting Strategy! Morehead City is the ideal area to leisurely coast up the intracoastal waterway and soak in the Carolina sunshine. There are a variety of stops along the way to shop, walk around and dine.  Beaufort waterfront affords day docking as well...just a few minutes East. Further West is a short ride to Swansboro which is actually located in the county line of Carteret and Craven Counties. Quaint antique shoppes and parlors to wander through. I am already visual...

Well, after a nice afternoon watching ECU beat Tulsa for the C-USA championship , my husband loaded our folding chairs and  we packed up a cooler of hot cocoa and marshmallows and headed to the waterfront to watch the annual Christmas Flotilla ! (boat parade on water) The season feels official now and it prompted me to get busy today getting my Charlie Brown Christmas tree up and making home feel a bit more like Winter is upon us and Christmas is near. We are a football family  (Univ. North Carolina Football- My husband is a Tarheel coach) and anxiously awaiting our bowl selection so we can get organized and plan our trip....       Christmas carols are playing and I just saw the fantastic video of Martina McBride with Elvis singing "Blue Christmas "! Wow, she looks alot like Priscilla! ...

Today was a wonderful sunny day to join a friend who just retired out of corporate relocation and moved here full time to live the casual lifestyle of Carteret County. Lynn asked me to recommend a good place for lunch with hopes of sitting outside with waterviews... I chimed in with the perfect spot !   Key West Seafood Company is a landmark on the Morehead City Waterfront and offers a casual atmosphere inside and out with an excellent  menu. We met on the the outside deck with full sun and watched the boats go by as well as a sail boat dock for lunch. The delicious menu offers NC select seafood, mostly locally caught and very fresh ingredients. The owner and chef, Dan Hatch, has culinary skills beyond his years and authentic experience with a Key West menu. Dan graduation from Johnson a...
