I posted a quick article today about ways to become more energy-efficient - (save some green--and be a bit greener!) on my Mint Hill Real Estate Blog. Here is an excerpt: It is always smart to upgrade to energy-efficient appliances, fixtures, etc. when you can. Until a few years ago Mint Hill was a small town, rural in nature and everyone liked it like that way. Well today Mint Hill still has the small town feel but is growing with new develpments and not your average developments. We're talking about high end top dollar homes. One development, on Lawyers road will have a 4 plus acre vineyard and homes that start in the 1.2 million price range. My wife and I along with our two sons moved last year from South Charlotte to Mint Hill.  We have truly grown to love our new town.First and foremost, Mint Hill is a friendly, down to earth town.  The people of Mint Hill are proude of their town and Scottish heritage, and they take their history seriously.  Mint Hill is also a town on the move - it is growing by leaps and bounds, but is still has that charming small town feel with a  quaint downtown, the Mint Hill Madness festival and parade in September, a Scottish Highland festival in the spring and an active community calendar.My wife and I have enjoyed discovering the restaurants and shops in downtown Mint Hill.  Jimmy's Place is excellent for downhome southern style food including a great breakfast, Big Guys is our choice for pizza... 01/11/2008

While the talk around the nation has been decidedly bad regarding home prices, the Charlotte area, which includes Charlotte, Gastonia, and Concord just posted the largest increase median value increase in the south.  The median house price rose to $220,000, up 11% for single family homes in the third quarter.  The second highest increase was Baumont - Port Arthur Texas.  Unfortunately, don't look for this to be reported on the cover of USA Today or the Wall Street Journal.  Instead, you will probably read - US MEDIAN HOME PRICES DOWN 2%.  I don't even think the Charlotte Observer ran the story.  But this is great news, but news we've already known.  As a local real estate professional, I expect this trend to continue for three reasons.  First, people are still overwhelming moving to the... 11/25/2007
