Mint Hill, NC Happy 4th of July!!  I live in Mint Hill and and sell Mint Hill, NC homes  and I must say we are a very patriotic bunch.  My subdivision, Ellington Farm,  has a contest every year to see who can decorate their house, yard, mailbox in the most patriotic manor.  We have great fun starting with a parade from all willing neighbors who compete for most patriotic costume, float, bike and dog.  After we parade around the neighborhood we break for lunch and have a neighborhood picnic along with games and even a watermelon eating contest (we're also very competitive). This year's events did not disappoint and I think you will agree by the pictures how much fun we have.  If you are thinking of moving to Mint Hill, NC  and are interested in Mint Hill homes for sale or homes for sale ...

Mint Hill NC Celebrates Its Gold Mining Heritage Did you know that there was a gold rush in Charlotte NC before there was a gold rush in California?  That’s right.  After 12-year-old Conrad Reed found a seventeen pound gold rock in 1799, gold mining became serious business in the Charlotte region.  Charlotte’s gold rush lasted through the first half of the nineteenth century. Mint Hill NC played a part in the gold rush with its own famous Surface Hill mine where locals could find bits of gold on the surface of the mine. The Surface Hill Mine was one of more than 25 mines that operated in the area from 1800 to 1830.  On Saturday, May 7th, the Mint Hill Historical Society will celebrate the town’s gold mining heritage at the Carl J. McEwen Historic Village in downtown Mint Hill.  Events b...
