My husband, Rodney & I attended a free concert tonight at the Lewisville Town Square. Taylor Vaden performed a Tribute to Elvis. This 21 year young man was as if Elvis was brought back to life! Taylor sung several of the 50's-60's Elvis hits. He sounded awesome. As I closed my eyes, it sounded just like the real Elvis singing. I can see much future sucess for this young man. He put on a FANTASTIC Show. Not bad for a local talent that lives in King, NC, only min from Lewisville, NC.

I was watching the Duke game last night and couldn't believe my ears.   Each time a shot was taken, when the ball hit the rim, you could hear it, It was louder than the announcer voices.  I know that thrtat there are boom mikes on the court, but do wie really need to hear all the clanging of the rim?  It was distracting to me, and I had to turn down the sound and listen on the radio.  Maybe I am just nostalgic for the old days with games in smaller buildings and less hype. Good luck to all for a successful tournament.  The young men that are performing for us are still only twenty or so, playing in front of an entire world.  What were you doing when you were twenty.  I'm embaressed to tell!

Okay, here are my qualifications:   I understand that the government is supposed to be for the people, by people.  Since I am actually "one of the people"  I understand the needs of the people more than a Kennedy that lives in a private compound with out of touch rich people. I actually have worked for a living.  I have paid taxes, paid for  health care, and owned a small business.  I have not though had the time to work for a non profit, follow family members around when they are campaigning nor have I worked for a political committee, think tank or received symbolic board posts because of my family connections. I have not received any money from any special interest.  I have none,  although  the safety of my family is pretty big to me.  I  would like to help determine where the TARP m...

One of the great things about being a Realtor is that you can help people achieve their dreams concerning real estate.  But what should we do about the demanding customer? I have some examples of how we put ourselves in positions that we can't win.  For example, what do you do about the customer that sees a home on line and wants more information.  They email you and tell you that they were looking online and saw the listing at 123 Main St.  They want you to go by and look at the home and give them information about how close to the road the home is, or what the neighborhood is like, or how big the backyard is. Or maybe the phone rings and someone wants information about one of your listings because they are looking at the FSBO down the street.  Of course you are obligated to give infor...

Sundays in the December mean the end of the regular season for the National Football League and this Sunday there are plenty of games that have playoff implications. But for those that don't like football, here is your lineup from Time Warner. Spend some time and look at buying the world's best air cleaner, or maybe look at purchasing a miracle cure for  arthritis, a wonder clothes hanger, stick up light, and maybe get your colon cleaned. For those that really like commercials, see just about every human condition taken care of by the new medicines on the market.  How about some retread movies, most have been shown 100's of times. Maybe you want to here repeats of the same news stories on every news channel.  There are plenty of opportunities. Are you a medical junkie?  There plenty of ...

As we see more banks fail, the concern by the media and talking heads is misguided in that they focus on the deposits of the citizens in the failed banks.  Of course the deposits are protected by the FDIC and most Americans do not have more than $250,000 in liquid deposits.   The long term concern should be the lack of  competition for financial products and the costs to Americans for those products going forward.   With less competition prices will go up for us further padding the banks profits.  Also the relationships between the remaining banks and financial services companies will cause pain to consumers.  The Federal Reserve will ultimately be controlled by just a few mega size members and this will also cause problems for Americans in the future.

Okay, maybe not today, but what if is did?  I was watching a movie tonight, War of the Worlds, the old movie about an alien invasion and thought what would it be like if we had such an event today.  We all know that our world has been turned upside down by the down economy, caused by what most people would say is simple greed by a few.  But is this really such a bad time?  Can you handle less than two dollar gas?  How about food in all the stores?  Do you still have cable, electric power, heat, and a working frig?  There are billions of people on this planet that have none of the things we have.  We are spoiled to think that we are having it bad.   The conditions that we have today are nothing compared to other times in the worlds history.  In fact, during the civil war, our country saw...

Why do we always want the ever present coupon?  We think we are saving something, usually money.  But have you ever thought that the companies giving the coupons understand marketing better than you do?  Every dime that is given away in coupons is more than made up with additional purchases that come with the visit to the store.  The items are still profitable to the company and many other items are at or above full price.  Just don't get to crazy about coupons,  do your homework and make sure you are buying quality instead of the latest fad.

LendingTree Advertising Disclosures Mortgage Rate as low as 5.5% (5.23% APR) - Disclosure current as of November 11, 2008. The advertised loan is a 3/1 ARM (Adjustable Rate Mortgage) with a 30-year fully amortizing term. After the initial period, the variable interest rate and payment will adjust every year and equal the total of the 12-month LIBOR index (2.8% as of November 11, 2008) plus a margin of 2.25%. The maximum periodic change in the interest rate is 2% with a maximum rate increase of 6% above the initial interest rate. If the interest rate adjusted to the maximum rate (which could not occur until after the fifth year), the maximum monthly payment would be $2,144 for $225,000. There is no prepayment penalty. The Annual Percentage Rate (APR) is variable and is subject to incr...

Finally, we are getting there.  The stock market dropped close to 500 points yesterday to close at multi year lows.  Now down 19% month to date, this is shaping up to be one of the worst months on record.  Fear is in the market and sellers out number buyers by huge numbers.  But there is a silver lining.  The governments around the world have pumped trillions of dollars into the system and it will began to take effect soon.  The best thing that is happening though is the lack of government intervention.  Since the interventions have stopped, the markets, left own their own have responded in the way they were designed to work.  Citigroup, one of our big money center banks saw their shares fall below $5.00 yesterday.  This prompted forced selling by mutual funds that had been hold the bel...

As someone who has seen a number of economic ups and downs over the past few years, this downturn is the worst I've seen.   It continues the rise of government regulations and fees.   The state of North Carolina has now enacted additional regulations on mortgage brokers and I predict it will be the straw that breaks the camels back.   Starting on October 1st 2008  Yield Spread Premiums will not be permitted on sub-prime loans- if the customer only qualifies for that type of loan, the broker will be limited to up front fees.  Closing costs must increase for the customer, possibly halting the transaction.  Of course the broker could take less fees, many will, but expenses remain the same.  The net effect is government putting a limit on income.  Not very good policy is it?  Clarifies that...

This weekend marks the beginning of the NFL football season.  That means fun and heartbreak as your favorite teams go on the road to the Super Bowl.  Just to get you feeling good, think about bowls of chili and beer, with friends watching a great afternoon of football- and its cold outside and no open houses.  I can't wait!
