 Franklin NC scenery in Macon County   Just driving around in the country side of Franklin, NC can be relaxing and calming to me. Most of us are in a hurry to go to work or run an errand when we are in our vehicles. It's nice sometime to take a different way to work and take in the beauty of Mother Nature. Macon County North Carolina has some of the most beautiful scenery's in the East. The Great Smoky Mountains just took my breath away the first time I came up here from Fl 22 years ago on our honeymoon. Who knew just a few years later we would buy property and move here.  I love the four seasons and winter time is not as bad as up north NY where I am from. Pickin on the Square ~ Franklin, NC Downtown Gazebo Every Saturday night Franklin, NC has a Free Event called Pickin on the Square right in the middle of downtown at the Gazebo.  The only vendors allowed is food.  It's amazing the amount of people that come out to listen to the live free music all summer long through October.  Sometimes they have cloggers/dancers perform too. The Main program starts at 7:00 pm but the fun starts at 6:00 with Open Mike. Don't forget to bring your lawn chair.     The Franklin Press in Macon County Franklin, NC Read all about it!  Franklin NC is a very small town compared to some of the larger cities in NC.  Keeping that in mind I wanted to tell you all little bit about our local News Paper here in Franklin, NC.  It is Macon County's oldest business established in 1886 created by T.J. Christy of Athens Ga., stayed for a short period and sold out to W.A. Curtis. I think I am car sick and have to go home. Franklin, NC has some twisty roads & higher elevations. I have a client drove into Franklin, NC yesterday morning to look at homes for one day and I am sending him over the mountain today to Murphy, NC for showing over there.  It was a nine hour trip by himself to get here.  I was all set and ready for him.   Yesterday morning he comes to the office, we get acquainted and off we go.  After showing him one house he got car sick.  Well, maybe he did and maybe he really is sick from something else.  His wife is back in Fl sick as well.
