And just like that, I’m full steam ahead and ready to work! Yesterday was spent in the sun on my good buddy, John Deere the riding mower. Two weeks away from home meant some tall thick grass and other assorted varieties of green that passes for grass in the mountains of Western North Carolina. Today I started out with a great cup of coffee and read Emily Medvec’s post about being handed one of the first “short sales” in Santa Fe, NM back in 2008. Since there really was no “how to” manual, she just jumped in, got creative and …full steam ahead…got the job done. Since I was already rubbing the vacation from my eyes and focusing on the real estate tasks ahead, her post was just what I needed…thanks, Emily!  On tap for today, I’ll be showing 5 houses to a young couple itching to buy their ...

Stay alert around corner here, lots of mountain drivers go over the yellow line all the time. If you are going slow and there is traffic piling up, please pull...

A favorite past-time of my family is to visit used bookstores. My mother loves to go to Franklin, NC when she visits here because of the Macon County Friends of the Library Used Bookstore. It’s located in the Shops of Riverwalk on the road to Highlands. Every penny earned from the bookstore is contributed to Macon County’s Public Library. The books are mostly 50 cents and one dollar. How can you go wrong? The books are all organized just like in a library, so they’re incredibly easy to browse. Guess what? If you make it easy to browse the books then it’s easy to buy the books! Great business model. Speaking of models…waiting outside of the store for his human was this dachshund sporting a visor and a leather jacket. How loudly can we say C U T E?      O M G ! ! !       I’m calling thi...

Successful Short Sale | 48 Sanctuary Lane | Homes for Sale | Franklin, NC | Real Estate   SOLD! In the Sanctuary at Mountain Grove is a community in Franklin, NC for those who love the outdoors, mountain views and peaceful living. This home was a successful Short Sale with BOA.  It was a long attention to detail and very frustrating at times.  This home sale will go down in the books as a memorable one.  This was my first one with BOA and using the system Equator can be a nightmare at times.  Once we were assigned to a Negotiator that knew what he was doing and would respond to questions, it started to go smoother and move forward.   To date this is the Most Satisfying Sale I have had.  We helped a seller move on to the next phase of their life and the new buyer start a new life as new...

Looking at the vignette effect on the vintage tractor photos taken in Franklin, NC this past week makes me feel like I could easily have taken them with one of those huge format cameras that photographers had to drape black fabric over themselves and the camera. Oh yeah, I would also like to envision myself wearing one of those long coats with the long tails… now that WOULD be a picture!

If my father had been with me last week and we passed this scene, he would've been able to tell me the make, model and year of this car residing outside of a farm in Franklin, NC. He probably could also have told me a true story to go along with it. There was hardly ever a vehicle of any kind that he couldn’t identify. Make no mistake, I didn’t inherit a car-identifying gene from Dad but I’m fairly certain this is a Chevrolet and I’m willing to bet it was born about the same time I was! I hope it is a Chevrolet otherwise calling this post “See The USA” doesn’t make quite as much sense…as it is, I guess if you are younger than 30 it maybe doesn’t make any sense anyway. The scene served its purpose, Dad’s memory visits me at the most surprising times.     p.s. I WAS born AFTER this comm...
