You can find many opportunities for outdoor recreation in Charlotte NC and its small towns.  One of the best providers of recreational facilities and programs is the Mecklenburg County Parks and Recreation Department.  This department oversees a network of parks and nature preserves that are located throughout Mecklenburg County.  The mission of the Nature Preserve and Natural Resources Division is to protect the region's biodiversity and natural heritage by promoting open space preservation, conserving natural communities and fostering stewardship through environmental education and outdoor recreation. This was lifted off the front page of the Charlotte Observer on March 30, 1980. My wife Jackie Stutts and I bought our first house in closing months in 1980. Considering where the interest rates had been earlier in the year, we were more than thrilled when rates dropped below 12% and we got our first mortgage at the bargain basement rate of 11.75% for a 30 year fixed rate with a 10% down payment. We thought we had made the coup of the century and we felt good about what we had done. If the bank listed the home at the BPO price, When is the bank most likely to begin accepting that lower price (80% of List)  offer?   Deciphering bank motivation... I know I know, it may somewhere between astrology and palm reading, but here goes... Here in Charlotte, where home values (though more recently declining) have remained relatively strong, it has to be on the market quite some time before they are willing to take that size (20% or so) of a discount. Conversely, in parts of California, I am told they accept substantial discounts within days of listing, why would that be? What are the variables to consider? Last month's homes sales in Charlotte are off 38% from Last February's, a long-established traditional Real Estate company is shuttering 25% of its offices, on a ride back from Monroe on Hwy 74 I caught a glimpse of a brand new shopping center so I pulled in-it was a ghost town.  I estimated 75,000 square feet of small shop space complete with nice architecture, landscaping and water features-not one single tenant in the whole development.  Folks, that is about as real as it gets.  I consider myself a fairly upbeat and positive person and don't usually go around spreading negativity.  But I believe there is a major paradigm shift afoot that will change the entire consumerism landscape for many years into the future.  And as painful as it has been, is, and is yet to be, it may turn out t...

I will preface this portion of this topic like I have the others...movers don't sell insurance.  Only insurance companies sell insurance.  Movers sell "valuation".   The only other type of coverage you can get from a mover is "full replacement coverage" or "full value protection".  Some companies call them slightly different things but they are the same animal.  Basically what you are doing with this is you are buying a value ceiling or a value umbrella over your entire goods.  Some movers make you buy a minimum of $6.00/lb.  That is not per article. That refers to the minimum you could purchase over your entire shipment.  For example, if your entire shipment weighs 10,000 lbs, you would have to be covered to $60,000 of coverage.  In other words your claim could not exceed $60,000.  If ...
