This is the most fun that I have with an Active Rain contest.  I love getting up and doing the blog each day. There are some good questions that you have given us to work with.  This is good for us and it also puts these things fresh in our mind.  I like to give hints to my sellers about what to do to their house to make it more salable. I have a website that I ususally send them to. Thanks for starting this contest.

BUY AMERICAN MADE PRODUCTS! Subject: How to Read Bar Codes on Food . . . This is very interesting & good to know as a safeguard. ALWAYS READ THE LABELS ON THE FOODS YOU BUY--NO MATTER WHAT THE FRONT OF THE BOX OR PACKAGE SAYS, TURN IT OVER AND READ THE BACK---CAREFULLY! With all the food and pet products now coming from China , it is best to make sure you read labels at the grocery store and especially Walmart when buying food products. Many products no longer show where they were made, only give where the distributor is located. It is important to read the bar code to track it's origin. How to read Bar Codes .... Interesting! This will be useful to know when grocery shopping. GREAT WAY TO BUY USA & CANADA AND NOT FROM CHINA!! The whole world is afraid of China-made "Black-hearted goods...

We are so fortunate to live in such a beautiful World.  This needs to be seen. http://www.andiesisle.com/creation/magnificent.html A friend sent me this link and it was too good to not share. We live in a wonderful world and do not appreciate how fragile it is. We should all take note and say to ourselves, " what can I do to help this world continue"..for our selves and our future generations. There ARE things that we can do...today.... and ask other to do the same. Just thinking about our future and the future of our children, and their children, and their children and their children, etc.. WE need to be held accountable to what we do to our world..

Beautiful day in Southport but we did not leave the house.   After returning home from a 7 day cruise, we needed our Children and Grandchildren around us to love on. So..I got up at 9:30 and prepared a wonderful Sunday Dinner for us all.   Our menu today was as follows:   Barbecued Pork County Cut Ribs Barbecued Chicken Stewed Potatoes Corn we put up last summer Butter beans Sauteed Broccoli Rice (for Marissa) Parker House Rolls Sweet Tea Fresh BlueBerry Cobbler for Dessert..   After eating, we gave our gifts to the children, mostly T-Shirts and Jewelry, Chocolates and literature on the places we visited.  Last night, after we got home, I did a DVD of the trip...(about 45 minutes or so) and we sat around and enjoyed the sites and GRandPa and GrandMa..doing funny things on and off the Sh...

I have always been told that the 12 Days after Christmas were an indication of what the year is going to be like. It is an old wives tale for sure, but what ever the weather is on the 26th will tell you what January is going to be like..(It happens to be very windy and rainy here right not), on the 27th the weather that you have will be what your February is going to be like.  And so on and so on and and so on. Have you ever heard this prediction before.  In about 35 days, I will know how accurate this is..   Hope you had a Glorious Day and Wishing for you a very Happy  and Prosperous New Year..   Ginger of Southport

Today has been such a horrible day with the tragedy that has happened in Connecticut.  I can not fathom the pain that the Mothers and Dads, Brother and Sister, Grandparent, Aunts and Uncle and friends must feel with the precious little ones being slaughtered by a deranged person.  There were many heroes today I know, that saved many of these children lives.  They put the children's  lives above their own. God Bless these brave persons. When will we understand the reasoning behind such horrific acts.  Why kill the innocent...Why?  Why?  Why? I have hear the call for gun control.  Surely we understand that it is not guns that kill people, it is people that kill people.  If someone want to kill another, they will do it with knives, guns, ball bats, fist or anything that they can use to mai...

Cancer...Can we find a way to get rid of it?  WE need more research to find cures for this dreaded disease. In loving memory of every cancer patient, family, and friends who have lost the battle of cancer and the ones who continue to conquer it! Put this on your page if you know someone who has or had cancer.  WE lost our daughter Meg in July of this year.  Our pain is still very hard.  We all should pray for a cure. Dear God, I pray for the cure of cancer. Amen. So many loved ones..., too many to name. They are all in my thoughts.

Let's not discuss the Mayan calendar, okay? How about a look, instead, into the next century: In 89 years, on January 1, 2101, our kin will be able to celebrate the New Year right.  Forget midnight. Instead, they should celebrate 01:01:01 on 01/01/01, one hour, one minute, and one second into the first day of the first month of the first year of the 22nd century (2101). Let me go a step further than 01/01/01 (2101): There will also be 02/02/02 (2102), 03/3/03 (2103), all the way through 12/12/12 (2112)!    Pretty cool, huh?

Today we performed the final Sea Notes Christmas Concert. We had a sold out audience of about 1000. This concert was held at the Hatch Auditorium on Caswell Beach, North Carolina. The concert consisted of sacred and secular music. This music was challenging and comical and I enjoyed singing this concert.   WE ended with the Twelve Days of Christmas; 12 days to shop, 9 days to shop, 4 days to shop and then a frantic 1 day to shop...It was musical and comical. We loved doing that song.   Tired now...next week is the Christmas Cantata at Church. Also will be very enjoyable,     Merry Christmas.

Traditions: Christmas Trees and Ornaments The fir tree has a long association with Christianity, it began in Germany almost 1,000 years ago when St Boniface, who converted the German people to Christianity, was said  to have come across a group of pagans worshipping an oak tree. In anger, St Boniface is said to have cut down the oak tree and to his amazement a young fir tree sprung up from the roots of the oak tree. St Boniface took this as a sign of the Christian faith. But it was not until the 16th century that fir trees were brought indoors at Christmas time. WE all enjoy the Christmas Tree in our homes today. It is very interesting to learn of the Christmas Trees origin..   Merry Christmas to you and to your family.

Today was one of the Best Days ever with this Family.  We had a total of 18 people who came and dined and enjoyed each others company.  It was so much fun.  I had a chance to meet with some friends that I had not been able to spend time with in a very long time.  WE sat and talked as though we had not been apart for 30 years.  That is what it is all about.  Being together and spending some time thinking about the Good Ole Days..   The menu was overwhelming with Turkey, Dressing, County Ham, Corn, Collards, Butterbeans, Cranberry delight, sweet potato souffle, and then the desserts.. WE will have another dinner for the other side of the family on Thanksgiving Day..   Anyone have a great diet Plan??

Today, my husband asked to see if I had some special Christmas Recipes.  I told him that I just cooked and really did not use a recipe book. Our local newspaper is printing a recipe book for Holiday Recipes and I need your help in sharing some good ones to our local folks here in Southport, North Carolina. If you have a few minutes and know a recipe that you have used and it gets great reviews..Please send it to me.. It will be printed in the State Port Pilot in Southport North Carolina.  A good newspaper in a good community.. The State Port pilot is gearing up for the "Christmas Cookie Baking contest".  If you can bake a special cooking, please submit your cookies to the State Port Pilot office by Friday for the judging..   Would love to know what you like to cook for the holidays..   ...

I don't know about you all, but I am having a harder time pleasing the BPO folks. I am giving them factual information based on our local MLS and the figures tell the truth. They are wanting us to go back and get closer comparable properties When nothing has sold in that area you must go outside that community to find comparable to do the analysis. I am also finding, after I have done the work...they order has been canceled.   Then, we have spent our time and energy to do the work and will not be compensated for it. What do you do with this scenario?   Ginger of Southport   With warm regards,   Ginger Harper http://www.GingerHarper.com gingerharper@seacoastrealty.com B

Well, I find myself having Opportunity Day today. (A better way to sayDuty Time). Actually I have been enjoying it. It is the first exposure that your company makes when some one calls on the phone or walks through the door. We need to ponder that a minute. What you say or do...the minute someone walks in or calls in is the first impression that those folks have of your company. We need to remember that. Hope you have a good Opportunity today, Smile!   I have been fortunate enough to work face to face with sellers today. I had listed one of their lots and they were going to take it off the market. I did some research for them and suggested that they leave that lot on the market...because it can't sell if no one knows it is for sale.. They then asked to see if I would list one of their other lots. They are excited to sell and we priced it at the lowest price in the community. There is stuff happening... Thanks, Ginger Harper 800-346-7671 gingerharper@seacoastrealty.com
