So you are selling your home. You cleaned and decluttered and painted everything white. Now you just wait for the sale. Have you actually tried your best? Did you look at other homes for sale and see how they are presented? Did you ever walk through Model Homes?  Be honest and compare yours to the Model Home. Everything you neglect doing that would make your home more sellable, will take money from your pocket. Who can afford to give away money? Not me! You are going to have an Open House; did you sincerely give it your best or did you open all the windows and pray the wind would take care of the dust? Did you think to clean inside your oven and refrigerator? Is your garbage still in the garbage cans throughout your home? Did you make sure all the cobwebs are down? Would you want a ...

I just got back from Toronto where I attended my first Canadian ReDesigner’s Conference. It was the 6th Annual for it and the first not held in British Columbia. It was well attended from all over Canada except that I was the only one from the Maritimes there. We stayed at the Sheraton Hotel at Pearson Airport and were treated royally. We spent the weekend learning from each other and listening to presenters from paint companies, web site designers, companies that deal only with real estate and building, storage management companies and professional trades’ people of all types. One could not help but learn and gain knowledge from this vast array of people. Ask me if I would go again; in a heartbeat. I am excited to show what I have learned and know you will see it in my before and aft...

Truly I feel like summer just began and I am not ready for fall in any way. I am going to have to move to a climate where summer lasts a few more months. Except I love fall and all it brings and I still get excited over the first snowfall in winter. I give up I just love all the seasons. As we think about fall and getting our homes prepared, I have some helpful tips to read over. It is time to trim your trees and hedges back before the winter can break them with the load of snow. It is a great time to do this, no flies and cooler temperatures make is easier. Mow your lawn one last time and clear away any debris left on the lawn. Now is the time to research out the proper fertilizer for our climate and you type of lawn. Begin by checking with Darren Marshall and Krista McAllister or ...

I recently had a grandson preparing for dorm life and as always it seems the need to cut costs was on our mind. Here is a column I wrote on the subject of getting ready to leave the nest.     Off to a Dorm?   Many of us have someone off to a dorm this fall. First time “dormers” have a whole new way of life ahead of them and maybe this column will help you prepare for living on your own or sharing a room. First on the list is a call or email to your school to find out all the particulars they already have in place. Some schools do not allow certain things so you need to know all that before buying for your room. If sharing a room talk to your room-mate to see what they are bringing as you certainly do not need two microwaves and no fridge. Shop around for a deal as there are always befor...

Shivering and Organizing, What do they have in common? It's time to look for warmer clothes and see if they fit the fashion this fall. What a great time to organize your closets! Now where did you put all those warm things? Piled high in a closet and when you pull one down 4 more come with it? Or did you already organize and they are in bins coded as to color and season? Here are some quick ideas to help sort through our closets for fall and winter. 1. Empty the whole space and pile is groups of the same. 2. Begin sorting the piles into sections, Keep, Donate, Sell. 3.In the Keep File, take the time, right now, to try on everything and decide if it fits properly and if the style and color is dated. It may need to go in another pile. 4. If you are still considering clothes you paid a lot...

The community of St. Andrews By-The-Sea has attracted visitors and residents alike for many years.  It has historically been the residence of choice for the wealthy and executive of both Canada and the United States.  Today, St. Andrews is one of New Brunswick's most prestigious locations and is ranked as one of the top best towns to live in all of Canada. Surrounded by the Passamaquoddy Bay, St. Andrews is a residential community with no industrial zoning.  Some of the best preserved examples of colonial heritage can be found here.  Most homes range from seaside homes and cottages to large historic estate homes.  While maintaining its historical charm, St. Andrews is a dynamic and prosperous community.  St. Andrews is blessed with small town values and friendly neighbors.  It is indee...
