When a client writes a recommendation for your business, it is both personally and professionally rewarding. The seller had moved out of state when he contacted me, so we met over Thanksgiving weekend. He needed to make repairs that he wasn't thrilled with having to make, but it made the difference between sitting on the market stagnant, or receiving multiple offers. He did everything I asked of him. Here's what my client said:  Pat was the second agent I worked with after attempting to sell my property for six months with another agent came to frustrating results. To summarize, Pat sold the property in less than two months and I couldn't be happier to have selected her! Here is what you can expect from Pat: • Proactive, go-getter o Within first two weeks of signing with her, she staged ...

While showing homes in Belhaven, I noticed the Japanese Magnolias in full bloom. I've always heard them referred to as "tulip trees". Their beautiful pink blossoms indicate Spring will arrive soon. (It won't be soon enough!) The same day, I was greeted by a funky musician propped beside the mailbox. Since Belhaven is known for its historic neighborhoods, art and cultural opportunities, this guy was right at home.  It's fun to capture interesting photos while touring neighborhoods and showing homes to clients. I hope you enjoy. Learn more about Belhaven by visiting Greater Belhaven. Search homes for sale in Central Mississippi

Downtown Jackson is rich with architecture from the MS State Capitol to the Governor's Mansion, and the most delightful time to tour Historic Downtown is at Christmastime. Guided tours are available at the MS Governor's Mansion throughout the year, but I had the opportunity to visit the Governor's Mansion this weekend during the 23rd Annual Christmas by Candlelight Tour.Governor Phil Bryant and First Lady Deborah Bryant were gracious to greet visitors and pose for photos in front of the 12 foot Leyland Cypress Christmas tree while piano music wafted through the halls. Miss Mississippi as well as Miss Teen Mississippi were also on hand for photos. Jolly Old Saint Nick was there, too. From left: First Lady Deborah Bryant, Marti Richardson, Pat Starnes, and Governor Phil Bryant Several hist...

Exercise has never been particularly compelling to me. I was fortunate to inherit good genes and a healthy metabolism. But as we age, metabolism slows, and Father Time introduces us to a few aches and pains we have never experienced. I wasn't ready to slow down. A few months ago, I started making small changes. I became more aware of what I ate and made healthier choices, plus I began walking. Yesterday, I completed my FIRST 5K during the Hal's St. Paddy's Day Parade in downtown Jackson! The weather was perfect, and because the scenery was beautiful, I captured a few photos along the way. Our state's capital truly has some incredible architecture. Stately trees and blooming azaleas lined our path. You can see from the outfits that dressing for St. Paddy's Day is half the fun! In fact, Ha...

Mississippi's 151st State Fair is underway at the Mississippi Coliseum and State Fairgrounds in Jackson MS. The fair opened Wednesday, October 6th and will remain open until the 17th.                                 A group of KW agents went during lunch today to consume corn dogs, fried potatoes, grilled corn on the cob, and of course, funnel cakes. If there is any doubt as to this author's personal favorite, check out this photo. (If you don't believe me, you should see the dusting of powdered sugar in my car!) Some of the entertainers for the 2010 MS State Fair include Hank Williams, Jr., Boyz II Men, Ronnie Milsap, and 38 Special. General admission to the fair is $5.00 for adults, but if you go before 1:00 p.m., there is no charge for entrance or parking. Daytime termperatures may b...

The Historic King Edward Hotel, a landmark to many local Jacksonians, is open once again after a major rehabilitation that began in 2008 and was completed in 2009. Now known as the Hilton Garden Inn, the hotel has 186 hotel rooms and 64 luxury apartments, in addition to a coffee shop, restaurant, and lounge. The King Edward Hotel is rich in history. The original structure was built in 1861 but was destroyed two years later during the Civil War. A second structure, built on the same site a few years later, became a popular meeting place for social and political affairs in the late 1880s to early 1920s. In 1923, the second structure was demolished to make room for the 12-story building that occupies the space today. Although the King Edward Hotel was a meeting place for many political eve...

As the first month of 2010 has already come and gone, it seems that a growing trend with aging Mississippi home buyers has already begun.  The most current trend shows that aging Mississippi buyers want comfortable, easy maintenance homes with the master bedroom on the first-floor. It's looking as though the baby boomer generation is now hitting their 50+ years.  And these baby boomers make up around 28% of the population with very interesting statistics.  BabyBoomerMagazine.com says this group is wealthier than any other in the nation, accounts for 40% of consumer demand and controls almost 70% of the total net worth of American households. When MetLife Mature Market Institute did a survey on people between ages 55 - 64, they found some interesting data and strong similarities.  Accord...
