Help for Homeowners Facing Foreclosure I have had a few conversations this week with people looking for help with their financial situation in regards to their homes..  My first advice is talk to your lien holder.  Believe it or not, they do not want to foreclose on you.  However, if you never talk to them, how will they know your situation?  Second, please do not "stick your head in the sand".  The problem will NOT go away by itself unless you bring your mortgage current.  Third, DO NOT be AFRAID to ask for help.  Help is out there but you have to ask for it.  Real estate agents, loan officers, attorneys, not for profit organizations, credit unions, etc. Here is a website for homeowners searching for help:  Making Home Affordable  This site it maintained by the government.  Here you ar... 01/26/2010

What are YOU cooking for Dinner? Here is an awesome recipe I modified for my family from the original version: Wild Rice Soup 5 cups chicken broth (either canned or cubes with water) 1/2 cup wild rice 6 T. butter 1/2 cup flour 1/2 t. salt 1/8 t. black pepper 1/4 t. thyme and sage mixed 2 cups milk 1 cup cubed cooked turkey or chicken 1 cup cubed cooked ham 10 slices crispy cooked diced bacon -save 2 T. for the garnish chopped parsley for garnish In large soup pot, combine rice and broth. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and cover-stirring occasionally as it will need to cook for about 45 minutes or until rice is tender. Next, in a medium sauce pan, melt butter.  Whisk in flour, salt, thyme and sage.  Cook until bubbly and smooth.  Whisk in milk, stirring frequently, until it thickens then s... 12/30/2009

Rockwood's School District Planning on "Re-writing" History Using Textbooks?? The textbooks in question have replaced the familiar letters B.C. and A.D., based on a Christian time line, with a new set of letters.  They are replacing B.C. "Before Christ" with B.C.E. meaning "Before Common Era" and A.D. with C.E. meaning "Common Era". A petition to the school board was brought forth by Dean Mandis with 783 signatures on it.  The objection is: "Why play alphabet soup with the common and well known letters of BC and AD?" The group of about twelve, simply want the district to formally adopt AD and BC into the curriculum.  The district's response was to take the petition but they are seemingly untroubled with using and explaining both designations.
