While not recession-proof, the Midwest and more specifically the St. Charles County region, has escaped the recent economic woes and mortgage crisis better than most. O’Fallon is a case in point. The St. Charles County Association of Realtors notes that in May, 102 single-family properties in O’Fallon were sold. That’s a 21 percent increase over the 84 houses sold in April. At the national level, home sales rose 2.4 percent from April to May (National Association of Realtors). On the flip side, the average sale price was down 7 percent from a year ago.Even considering the lower sale price, the movement of homes with a SOLD sign in the front lawn indicates a slow but steady return to housing normality. About a month, or so, ago my darling and I went to the O Fallon MO DQ for a treat and we just so happened to take our Pug, Missy, with us.  We went thru the drive thru and placed our order, when we drove up to the window the young lady said wait jsut a minute and went over and got a small cup of vanilla ice cream for the dog.  Well now everytime we go and we take Missy with us this is how she acts once the order is placed. What is age all about? In the time that I have been in real estate I have listed and sold many properties.  They have all been different styles and ages and price ranges.  The sellers have been in different age ranges.  And up until this week I have not listed a home that is owned by folks in their 80's.  Now most would think that the interior would be, well you know, dated.  The thought is that seniors are living in the past and can't get out of it.  They don't have any taste, all they like are things that are from the past forget about the now.  This is totally a perception and ill conceived and you will be seeing what I am talking about.  The lady of this home is in her 80's and lives with her husband and now enjoy their retirement and well they should.  I was called out to their hom... 06/14/2009

What a difference a day makes......... We have all experienced it; one day there is a storm brewing.  It is like the whole world is about to break forth in a massive storm.  Problems with our clients, building inspections, financing contingencies and even buyer remorse what else could possibly go wrong?  Then the title company calls with a problem with the title, OMG could anything else possibly go wrong and then the phone rings and it is an upset seller wanting to cancel their listing.  We go home thinking the market sucks and why put up with all of these headaches, it's not worth it!  Then tomorrow comes...............What a difference a day makes!!!!!
