Interest rates have still been generally holding steady at around the 6% to 6.5% mark for a 30 year fixed mortgage. They vary some from week to week but generally are bouncing right in that neighborhood.The median price for homes sold in the Joplin area is starting to go up which tells me that perhaps some of that inventory that's been out there for a while is starting to sell. The number of houses sold is on the way up as well but that's typical for the spring time. All in all the market here is in good condition but still tends to lean toward the buyer side of the market. Not strong enough that prices are going down here but just enough that buyers can do some negotiating. Think happy thoughts. It's a great life. 04/27/2007

I have lived in Joplin, Missouri for 26 years now, and I love this area.  Joplin has all the conveniences of a larger city with the friendliness and hominess of a smaller town. With its low cost of living, low crime rate and reasonable housing prices, this community is the ideal place to raise a family, start a business or retire.  And many others seem to enjoy calling Joplin home as well.  As a realtor, I've helped clients from all over the United States find the perfect property and settle in.We experience all four seasons here.  Our springs are beautiful and lush and green, our falls colorful and crisp.  We get hot in the summer and cold in the winter, although snowfall is normally light.  I say normally....because we just had a rare winterstorm pass through over the weekend...blanke... 12/04/2006

Joplin is an area that I have come to love and call home. Although I was born and raised in California I am a transplant to Joplin. I love the rich culture of the south and the Bible belt of the country. The History is rich and fascinating. Jessie James, Bonnie and Clyde, real mobbsters and saloons were all here in the Joplin area. Underground tunnels are lined under some of the most decrative and amazing buildings in the area. Joplin has so much to offer to so many different ages and to so many different personalities. Recently, Joplin opened up a large skate ramp, concert area for the local teenagers and the community is so Proud of it and our Youth.
