Chesterfield Police implement seat belt checks at local schools According to the National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration (NHTSA), approximately 573 children ages 14 and younger are injured or killed in motor vehicle crashes each day. The Chesterfield Police Department is focused on reducing that number. Chesterfield Police Patrolman Paul Powers, the department's traffic safety officer, is implementing a program aimed at getting elementary and middle school students to buckle up whenever they are in a car. The program is an adaptation of a program that the Chesterfield Police Department started at Parkway Central and Parkway West High Schools to get high schoolers to consider buckling up for prom. "When school is let out, we go up there and stand at the exits of the school and...

The Easter Bunny visits Greystone Subdivision in Chesterfield, MO.  Last weekend, the Easter Bunny made a visit to the Greystone subdivision.  With promises of candy, pictures and fun, the Bunny really delivered.  Balloons showed families the way as they arrived at the residence in Greystone for the fun.  While there,  families visited with the Easter Bunny and had their pictures taken.  Some pictures were impromptu and others were taken sitting with the Bunny or on the Bunny's lap.  Some children were anxious to have their pictures taken while some of the younger children weren't quite sure.  Other activities included a sidewalk chalk art, coloring contest, a guess the number of candy pieces contest and lots of bubble blowing.  Beautiful coloring contest entries were created.  There we...

Chesterfield Estates - one of Chesterfield, MO's  hidden jewels.  If you are considering a home in the Chesterfield Missouri area in the $450,000-$550,000 price range, this is a subdivision you really should explore.  In general, only a few homes sell each year because once a resident moves in to Chesterfield Estates, they don't willingly want to leave!     Located along the Wild Horse Creek Road corridor, this approximately 20 year old subdivision consists of 76 homes located on 6 streets.  There are several culdesacs within the subdivision and only one main entrance so the streets are quiet.  Children are found playing in the streets and riding their bikes frequently.  The subdivision is close knit and has regular activities open to all residents.  Just recently an Easter Egg Hunt was...

Home Sellers:  Items to consider when preparing your home for sale.  Home sellers, as you face the prospect of listing your home for sale, there are a few items that you should seriously consider.  What are buyers looking for today?  A good value most of all.  That means that you need to listen to your real estate professional and price your home at or below market value so that your home will get the attention it deserves in a crowded market.  If you are priced above market value (which is the contract price that a willing seller and willing buyer will agree upon in a free market,) it is predictable that your home will languish on the market not sell.  Buyers have so many choices today that they will write an offer on a home that is priced to the market.  Buyers are VERY savvy today an...

The Villages at Baxter Ridge is a Chesterfield, Missouri subdivision gem - one of our favorites!  Built during a 2 year period from 1984 to 1986, the Villages at Baxter Ridge was a collaborative effort of 4 different builders - Jones, Lieberman, Mason and Raleigh-Givens.  A unique plan at the time, the subdivision consists of 300 single family homes and a section with 135 condominiums. Each of 4 "villages" is named after a season. The Villages at Baxter Ridge is known as Baxter Ridge to the residents and locals alike.  Part of Baxter Ridge's popularity has to do with the community amenities available.  There is a community clubhouse that can be rented by residents for a reasonable fee for parties and subdivision events.  Located adjacent to the clubhouse is a swimming pool with a larg...

Mortgage Rates Go From 2010 Lows to 2010 Highs in One Day March 25, 2010 (MortgageNewsDaily.com)   At 1pm eastern, the Department of Treasury auctioned $42 billion 5 year notes.  When our government lacks the cash to pay for spending, they must borrow funds from investors. They do this by selling debt (Treasury bills, notes, and bonds).    Market participants gauge the success of auctions by tracking demand.  Tuesday's auction of 2 year notes saw below average demand which pressured treasury yields higher.  The same thing occurred again yesterday. Demand was low and benchmark Treasury yields continued to rise after the auction results were released at 1pm.    How does this all relate to mortgage rates?  The closest index to follow what mortgage rates are doing is the Treasury Bonds, spe...

On October 10, 2009 thousands of people flocked to Missouri as Chesterfield Arts publically unveiled The Awakening.  This 5 part, 17 ft. tall, cast-aluminum sculpture weighs more than 2 tons and was created by sculptor John Seward Johnson Jr.  Johnson's largest and most dramatic work, this statue depicts a giant struggling to arise from the earth.  A hand and foot are partially above ground while the right arm juts 17 feet into the air.  The giant's mouth is wide open as if he is waking up and struggling to be free from the ground.  John himself attended the unveiling, as did Chesterfield Mayor John Nations.  People of all ages from around the community followed a musical parade to the site of great sculpture.  What an event! One of the important things that made this such an enjoyable ...

Attention Missouri Homeowners!!!  There is a bill concerning future homeownership that we wanted you to be aware of.  Congress is trying to get us to pass a bill using a double negative format.  In other words, vote YES to say NO to this critical tax increase.  If this bill passes, there will be a 4% tax to sellers who have sold their home.  This will have a huge impact on the housing market and will make us take a step backward, not forward.  Please pass this along to everyone on your email mailing list - together we will stand strong and not allow this to happen!  Find out more here:  http://www.yestosavehomes.com/  A real estate transfer tax : is a form of double taxation; lowers homeowner equity; negatively impacts the process of buying and selling a home; and unfairly targets prope...
