The City of Warren MI in Macomb County is in the process of enacting a city wide foreclosure registry. I think it's about darned time that the city officials stepped in to combat the blight and the safety issues that happen with some abandoned foreclosures.  Bank owners (and other owners) will be required to register the homes with the city within 5 days of the notice of foreclosure in the courts or advertising the foreclosure in the newspaper.  The bank owners (or other owners) must inspect the homes to ensure the homes are safe:   Pools drained and covered if they are not in operable condition with clean water,  doors secured and windows locked (or boarded) and lawns maintained. I was recently working an Estate in Warren Michigan.  The owners had passed and it was time to sell.  Those who follow me know that this is my forte.  I love it. This last home had carpet in one room that had to be torn out.  No if and or buts it had to go. Tearing it out was easy.  The hardwood floor underneath had a few issues that were difficult to deal with.  Do you remember the yellow padding that be used to have under carpets?   The kind that turned to dust when it was old?  Well that the problem.  The padding was stuck to the floor. I tried scraping.  I tried a wall paper steamer.  I tried every fancy cleaner for hardwood floors. My reputation as an Estate Specialist is getting around.     Families have a hard time coping with the loss of a family members and then handling the process of getting the house ready to sell. My crew organizes the whole house into: what the family should have what the family might want run and estate sale and stage the house for listing at the same time.
