What is Title Insurance? Title insurance will protect the lender and homebuyers from claims or the consequences of claims, previously unknown, over the ownership of a property. Title insurance costs are regulated differently by different states. Some states will have the same title insurance costs all over the state like Michigan; others will have them vary among companies. The homeowner has to select their Title insurance company following the lending institution's advice or their own knowledge and common sense.   It is forbidden by the law that a Lender or Realtor demands signing with specific title insurance companies.   Title insurance will protect the lender or the owner only from losses and liens arising from prior events before signing the policy. I have visited Rochester Michigan to view the beautiful lights that cover the storefronts several times during the holiday season but never for the actual event when they are officially turned on. Parking was my biggest challenge when I decided to attend this year’s official start to the Big, Bright Light Show 2010 during the Lagniappe celebration. The show attracts over one million visitors to Downtown Rochester and they all seemed to be there at once for excitement and count down. The buildings of Downtown Rochester are covered in more than 1.5 million points of light every six inches according to the Downtown Rochester website. Over a year ago we had a committee called the Residential Property Task Force and from that group came great ideas from many of us to help our city ranging from volunteering on an individual basis to helping our neighbor to reactivating our own City Beautiful Commission to creating the Rental Property Ordinance/Guidelines.   I remember from our meetings that I requested that we start helping our neighbors.  If we see that someone needs their home painted that we would try to get donations to cover the costs and then volunteer and paint the house, now we can officially do that.  I am looking to hear from anyone who knows of someone who is in need of a home to be painted or needs lawn maintenance, etc.  Many of us want to help those in our community and what better way.  This leads me to ...
