In an effort to make downtown Oxford more pedestrian friendly and economically prosperous, the village council last week voted 4-0 to adopt a resolution supporting the Complete Streets concept. Complete Streets are defined as roadways planned, designed and constructed to accommodate safe access for all users regardless of age, ability or mode of transportation. Oxford can begin the process of making M-24 and the downtown area it bisects more accessible to pedestrians of all ages. The resolution basically states that wherever it's feasible, the village will incorporate Complete Streets design considerations and practices as a routine part of infrastructure, planning and implementation. Oxford Lakes, Oxford MI- More Distressed Sales But Prices Still Stabilizing In 2010 there were quite a few more sales in Oxford Lakes than in 2009, but there were also more distresses sale - short sales and foreclosures. In 2009 foreclosures and short sales made up 44% of the total sales in Oxford Lakes and in 2010 they made up 65% if the total sales. The good news is most everyone's property tax bills are once again going to decrease next year, in Oxford Township Michigan, 48371. The bad news is it's not because government got more efficient or cut spending, it's because their property's assessed value is continuing to decline. According to tentative data provided by the Oakland County Equalization Division, the State Equalized Value (sev) of residential properties in Oxford Township decreased by an average of 2.5 to 3.0 percent for the 2011 assessment notices, which will be mailed out in February. Countywide, the sev for residential properties decreased by an average of about 8.0 percent. Sev is equal to 50 percent of a property's fair market value.
