We picked up two loaves of bread the other day from one of our favorite local bakeries, Great Harvest Bread Company.  Let me tell you, there are few things more singularly delicious than sinking one's teeth into a soft, freshly baked piece of bread.  And when it's challah or cinnamon bread, two of my favorites...well, it's like a little slice of heaven here on earth. :) As we enjoyed a little break, my husband made a passing remark which went something like this...'just six things'.  Now if you knew my hubby, you would appreciate that he is a man of relatively few words, so one learns to pay attention when he dispenses them.  So, I inquired about what he was referring to.   Well, he was looking at the label on the bread loaf and noted how simple the ingredient list was. Remember the ...

Many experts will tell you that all real estate is local. Just how local do you get?  I just did a little research for a client this weekend and thought I would share it with you.  Forest Hills is a strong local market and homes continue to sell here,  but we have still seen a decline.  Home values may be stable in one neighborhood and falling in another. This is all predicated on how badly people want to live in an area. I did research on an "average home" in Forest Hills.     The search parameters were: Forest Hills School District Two Story Homes Sold  2200- 2600 square feet   The statistics for this search can be found at our Grand Rapids Real Estate Blog   If you would like a list of Top Best Buys in your area, please contact us through email or our website. Adatowne is a popular entry level home market in the Ada area of the Greater Grand Rapids metropolitan area. Part of the appeal is the proximity of Ada Elementary, Forest Hills Central Middle and High Schools, Ada Christian Schools, St Roberts School and being close to the village of Ada. Adatowne is an established subdivision, started in the early 1970's by E.L. Ladd Builders of Ada. I have held many open houses in these new plats  and sold many of the homes as new construction - to be built. If you doubt the power of your home as an investment, a basic ranch (about 1000 sq ft) sold  for $ 19,900 in 1975.    Adatowne Residential Neighborhood in Ada, Michigan         November 2008 Real Estate Market Report                        8  Sold, 1 Pending, 5 For Sale        Adatowne Active List...

Ada Woods is an established development of homes in Ada, Michigan,  just west of Ada and south of Fulton Street (M46).  Ada Woods started  out as an E.L. Ladd development,  but towards the end of the project many lots were sold to other builders and completed by individual owners.   The dates of building range from 1980's to 2005.  Most of the homes  have more square footage and more amenities than Adacroft Commons, its  adjacent neighborhood.  As with Adacroft Commons, there is designated common land in the development that remains heavily wooded and in a natural state.   This development is in the Forest Hills School System and  close to several private schools.                                      Ada Woods Real Estate  Market Report                                       November 200...

Have you ever thought about why you like being a Realtor?  I like many aspects of being a Realtor among those things I like is one very unusual feature. I like people so that is an easy transition.  In real estate we meet a cross section of people from all walks of life.  We get to see all types of structure...good and bad, but interesting.  We get to see decorating concepts...and some that are very special in a twisted way. I once represented a guy who used brown beer bottles and cemented them into the front of the house as siding.  Can I share it took a while to sell!  But people have some fascinating hobbies.  So I get to learn all these unique and sometimes varying interesting things.  I have purchased a few of the items from clients that they didn't want to move or were parting wit...
