Now that the Selcra Meijer Skate Park is closed, kids may want to try the Naz Skate Park in Brighton, Michigan which is an indoor skateboarding park.  They have lots of ramps there. The Naz Skate Park is located behind the Brighton Nazarene Church which is off of Brighton Road, east of Bauer Rd and west of downtown Brighton MI. Their address is 7669 Brighton Rd, Brighton MI  48116.I love that admission is free for the week if kids attend one of their SK8 churches (see schedule below). I also appreciate that they have different hours on Saturday based on the grade of the child so that the high schoolers aren't skateboarding with the younger kids. They also allow scooters inside the Naz Skate Park.  Helmets are required (which as a mother I appreciate).  Helmets are available for rent also....

What can be greater than actually buying your first house?  OK, that’s open to interpretation of course.  But in terms of life moves, it has to be up there as one of the best and happiest times.  It can also be stressful, if for no other reason, the lack of certainty. It definitely takes us out of our comfort zone. How much can I afford?  What’s the best neighborhood? Ranch, colonial, split-level?  Subdivision lot, small or large acreage?  How much will it cost me to maintain? What about unplanned repairs? Is the school system good?  It can sound pretty daunting. And to many, the whole home buying process is a deep, dark mystery, too.  Sure, they probably know that they have to get pre-approved, find a house, get a mortgage approved, and they have a general idea of what they can spend ...

A luxury home for sale in Brighton, MI and Genoa Twp, Michigan real estate is more than just about price.  It is about architecture, location, amenities and the grandeur of the home that differentiates it from other homes for sale in the Brighton and Genoa Twp MI real estate market.  It may or may not be a lakefront home for sale.Since January 1, 2012 twelve luxury homes sold for $750,000 and up in Livingston County and six homes sold in Brighton and Genoa Twp, MI (50% of the total).  Three of these twelve high-end homes that sold were on a land contract since a jumbo loan limit is $417,000 and the buyers may not have the funds/cash to buy the home. I have sold homes on a land contract and am happy to answer your questions regarding this financing alternativeAs of 1/11/2013 there are 25...

We all know at some intuitive level that supporting your local merchants is good.  Yes, sometimes you pay a little bit more than the big box stores, but often they have unique items or services that balance out the little bit of extra expense. Or perhaps it’s just the convenience. I don’t know about you, but I absolutely hate having to walk to the very rear of a large grocery store when all I want is a gallon of milk.  Not to mention the wait in line to pay. Now a study shows that shopping local is not just good for the merchant, it’s also good for local homeowners! A thriving business district actually helps to raise the values of the homes in that area!  The study conducted by American Express OPEN indicates that home values in neighborhoods close to such active business districts wit...

Yep, it’s that time of year.  Crops, baked goods, jewelry, craft items, bedding plants - just a few of the things you’ll find at the Brighton Farmers’ Market.  It’s located in Downtown Brighton, in the Municipal lot off First Street, adjacent to the City Offices and the Imagination Station playground. While it’s still early for a wide selection of crop goods, there’s always something interesting at the market, and you can always browse the downtown merchants and grab a bite to eat at one of the many restaurants.  There’s something for all price ranges and cuisines, so come on down. Kids will enjoy the Imagination Station playground, stroll the millpond tridge and boardwalk and then I recommend that you finish up with a stop at Main Street Cheese Market and Great Harvest Bread, then Jack...
