Behind the House is the Longfellow Garden, a secluded Colonial Revival style garden that is an urban oasis in the heart of downtown Portland. Located on what had once been the domestic farmyard for the family, the Longfellow Garden Club created the garden in 1926, and continues to maintain the property to this day. This year, the beautifully landscaped garden will be transformed into a winter wonderland with festive illuminations and holiday décor made possible through the generosity of electrical contractor Anthony Mancini, Inc. of Portland. Stop by and to take in the lights, stroll down the Poet’s Path, and enjoy hot cider and holiday cookies under the Children’s Gate portico.
