Maine vacation homes need "toy storage".All Maine's lakes, rivers, ponds, oceanfront and forest recreation trails mean you gotta have outdoor toys. Fishing boats, kayaks, snowmobiles and ATV four wheelers, ice augers, snow shoes, cross country and down hill skis, hunting and fishing gear. Each take up major space. A pontoon boat won't fit in your average house garage either. Side by side four wheelers eat up storage space too, especially when there is more than one to park inside. All kinds of outdoor toys are needed through the four seasons to enjoy Maine's natural resources best. When you are lucky enough to run away and hide up in Maine during your free time, hauling the toys back and forth gets old and expensive. Here's a Maine vacation home with garage storage space. No dinky one room ...

My secretary came in this morning saying her sister woke up to banging on the front door around midnight last night. Her husband is an over the road long haul trucker and gone so her sister with two kids alone at home was frightened. She hoped the banging was a dream and did not get up...just hoping the knocker went away. The persistent back door greeter trotted around to the front door of her Littleton ME country home. Her sister picked up the phone to call the police. The line was dead. All of us have watched enough chiller Stephen King type shows to think "oh oh" if that happened to us in real life. This is not good. Not good at all and thoughts of the line being cut, protecting your kids all swirl around your head at this point. The banging on the front door continues with a dete...

"Ooooooh  Oooooh That Smell." (Sang Way Way Off Key.) A song sung by Lynyrd Skynyrd. A Maine home listed recently had an interesting past. One with pigs. The kind that went "Wee Wee Wee" all over the home, not all the way back to home. The former "rent with option to buy" purchaser that I did not set up, and that was long gone when I planted my real estate sign, had pigs in the place. Nooooo, not the two legged kind. The four legged ones...the kind bacon is made from that you eat at breakfast.(Snort snort, grunting sound..cue the sound effects man.) It must have been like a porker race track around the INSIDE of the home.      And these little porkers were the Lance Armstrong type..very athletic and able to scale stairs so they were on the second floor too. (Holding nose, continuing...

All kinds of projects, various themes, different directions. Excited kids, noisy gym, lots of teachers, many judges. This is small town and fun. And you know the students, some were on your little league team, others had brothers or sisters that had been friends with your older or younger kids. Maine communities. The whole village raises your kids, or guides them.  Watch the video, a community look that gives you an idea of the kids, respectful, excited, inquizative.  As a Maine real estate broker, these community videos need to be inter-weaved in among your homes, land, farms, waterfront offerings. Because after all, people can buy a house or land or a lake cottage anyway..but show them the area that property is in, a glimpse at the people, and that tips the scale in your home town's f...

Three week school break and Aroostook County youth working to get the potatoes from the fields into the potato bins. This farming video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l6rlYB3wjuY from farmer Greg and Leslie Schools' farm operation in Littleton Maine with happy workers. Image to right of old stake body truck that carried 40 barrels from field to potato house with picking crews filling the barrels.  Sixty cents a barrel for 165 pound barrel (4 baskets) paid to hand pickers.  Now harvesters crews do the job and cover more ground quicker. But harvesters  leave alot of spuds behind that the kids did not miss. The barrels used years ago when filled were ticketed by picker with numbered tag. Count of barrels tallied daily and youth got paid at the end of the week.  Pickers listened to radi...
