Space, you know what happens when too little happens if not living in Maine. It takes its toll. Whether it's flying across the puddle to Europe, over to Hawaii and the Far East to stretch your legs. Or gathered around the dining room table. When every Tom, Dick and Harry you are related to shows up for a Thanksgiving drumstick. A second slab of pumpkin pie. You need living space, Maine has plenty to go around. Road rage from being stuck in traffic or passed by someone working their way up the line. And making you slam on the brakes, create a space where there was none so they don't get hit by on coming traffic. Just one example in the time suck of bumper to bumper grid lock. Long term effects of just no space. Zero lot lines and zip for a back yard. Side and front ones zip for any real ...

Youngest son had to fly back in the silver bird to Colorado and after dropping him off at Logan Airport in Boston, treated myself to some eye candy, a Maine lighthouse on the way home up I-95. Swung in to Cape Elizabeth's Portland Head Light at Fort William on the way to Houlton Maine's ride up Interstate 95.After seeing Lubec Maine's West Quoddy Head lighthouse this summer, something started to happen inside.Decided need to be hiking around, snapping stills and shooting videos for this neat coastal historic treasure. To sample more Maine lighthouses any time I can get near one along my travels. This is the link to the Maine lighthouse video.Captured, edited and uploaded from the close to sunset visit yesterday.Decided also to hit more Maine public bean suppers no matter where they are i...

For the month ending May 31st 2011 the Cape Elizabeth real estate market saw 10 single family homes and condos sell at a median price point of 440K.. a 11% year over year volume increase and a 38% year over year pricing increase..awesome! Statistics can be skewed, particulary given the smaller sample sizes, but it seems the greater Portland residential housing market continues to stabilize and improve contrary to larger national trends that are being reported. This report was compiled by John Herrigel with the Herrigel group, a local real estate broker with Green Tree Realty.  For the 1st Quarter 2011 ending March 31st the Cape Elizabeth real estate market saw 23 homes and condos sell at a median sales point of 360K compared with 18 homes selling at a median price point of 305K in 2010 for the same time period. It seems many parties from away continue to find this a very desirable area to relocate to and thus housing volume remained strong despite the snowy and cold winter we experience. Thus far in early Spring most signs seem to point to a continued strong real estate in Cape Elizabeth. This report was compiled by John Herrigel with the Herrigel group, a local real estate broker with Green Tree Realty. For additional information on real estate in Cape Elizabeth please reach out anytime at 207-650-5383 or john@greentreemaine.com

Well one can't complain about the weather and lately it has certainly been easy to complain about the real estate market, but over the past couple of weeks I have finally seen a siginificant increase in buyer activity in the greater Portland region.  Cape Elizabath is a suburb to the south of Portland, offering top schools, great state parks and a wonderful housing inventory to choose from. As of today, approximately 90 home are for sale in Cape Elizabeth and 8 Cape Elizabeth condominiums can be found.  Median prices were around 500K and 285K respectively.  In the month of September, a total of 11 homes and condos sold at a median price point of 399K after having sat on the market for 55 days. If interested in real estate in Cape Elizabeth... below you can search through all the homes a...

The markets of Cape Elizabeth continue to stabilize and see encouraging results as we move into the strong spring buying season here in Maine. Thanks for reading about the Cape housing markets.  The Cape Elizabeth real estate markets saw a whopping 10 transactions take place at a median price point of 328K after sitting on the market for a median days on market of 84 compared with only 3 homes having sold at a median price of 445K after sitting on the market for 42 days in January 2009. This desirable suburb continues to shed some value relative to the city of Portland housing market, but like most of the region stabilization seems to be returning. For the month ending December 2009 the coastal suburb of Portland, Cape Elizabeth, saw 14 transactions occur at a median price of 307K. This contrasts with only 5 transactions in December 2008 and 6 in November 2009. The large volume increase has been helped along by the historically low interest rates and Maine first time home buyers entering the market. Thanks for reading about Cape Elizabeth ME real estate. The Cape Elizabeth residential real estate markets located just to the south of Portland and considered one of the most desireable locations to call home in Maine saw 39 transactions transpire at a median price point of 277K for the 3 month period ending September 2009. This compare with 30 at 303K in 2008, representing a 30% increase in volume, but a 9% decrease in prices. Higher priced homes in Southern Maine continue to suffer from the economic slowdown whist lower priced more affordable real estate is selling with the help of the first time hombuyer tax credit.
