 The Osprey adults have arrived in Southern Maryland, from wintering grounds in South America. Nests are so sturdily made that osprey couples return to the same one every season. During Hurricane Isabel, the surrounding piers, bulkhead crumple during the storm, the Osprey's nest stayed secure and intact.  The birds use anything that makes their nest strong and big enough; osprey have a 54-inch wingspan Along with daffodils and warm afternoons, there's another sign of spring in Southern Maryland. Ospreys are returning and building homes. They mate for life too! In the spring the female will lay two eggs, that take about five weeks to hatch.
