A great place to visit in Central Calvert County is Battle Creek Cypress Swamp. There is a boardwalk path to walk through the protected watershed area. Also, an interesting indoor center for learning about the local animals in the area. Upstairs in the loft even has real snakes and spiders for those not too afraid to get close. It is a peaceful place to enjoy the history of the location as well as the unspoiled beauty. Last week I couldn't reach my friends for any updates. Matt, my neighbor across street came over all excited and said rockfish are in. He sighted a 50 pounder. Right now it is just catch and release. The rockfish season doesn't open until mid April. I can't wait it's my favorite fish. Matt always supplies us with Rockfish throughout the season.
