After all that disruption in the national and world economy in October, I expected the worst when October real estate statistics for Odenton were released.  While things certainly didn't improve, the decline wasn't nearly as drastic as I expected, and it could have been much worse.  Twenty-three homes did sell, in spite of concerns about the stock market, unemployment and the banking debacle, including new restrictions on mortgage financing qualifications.     The Average sold price in Odenton is down from last month, and lower than every month this year.  But it's down less than 10% - "only" 7.26% - from last year - not as bad as I expected in these difficult economic times. Median prices are down 6.24% from October 2007.           The number of units sold in Odenton declined during Oc...

Imagine my surprise when I saw this video indicating my vote swung the election.  Take a look... you might want to customize this and send it to your friends, regardless of your political viewpoint.   I guess the moral of this video is "Vote" (regardless of which candidate you support). Take a look at some of the ways history has been shaped by just one vote: * 1645 - Oliver Cromwell gained control of England. * 1649 - Charles I of England was executed. * 1776 - America chose the English language instead of German. * 1800 - The Electoral College gave Thomas Jefferson the Presidency over Aaron Burr. * 1839 - Marcus Morton became Governor of Massachusetts. * 1845 - Texas came into the Union. * 1868 - President Andrew Johnson was saved from impeachment. * 1876 - Rutherford D. Hayes won the...

MARC Rail Stations at BWI and Odenton Included in Your Online Relocation Package for Anne Arundel County, Maryland - Home of Fort George G. Meade, NSA, Northrop Grumman, BWI, and the U.S. Naval Academy.   Commuting from Anne Arundel County to Washington, D.C. or Baltimore is not limited to driving your car or taking METRO.  In fact, MARC Rail is the commuting method of choice for many Anne Arundel County residents who live near BWI or in the greater Odenton area including Crofton, Gambrills, Fort Meade and other nearby communities. The history of Odenton as a railroad town dates back to 1840 when the Annapolis & Elkridge Railroad was built across this sparsely populated area of Anne Arundel County.  Then, when the Baltimore and Potomac Railroad was constructed in 1868 to connect Baltimo...

Whether you're relocating to Anne Arundel County for a second career, or trading in your current home for an "active adult" lifestyle,  you have many nearby options.  You'll find that Anne Arundel County Rolls out the Red Carpet for Active Adults, and there is no shortage of options.  To help narrow down the list and focus on the communities that are right for you, I suggest these five steps: 1.  Select a location or area to focus your search.  What do you want to be near?  Work... friends or family... shopping? 2.  Make a list of your "wants" - the features and amenities you would have in your next home and community if price were no object.  For example, how many bedrooms and baths?  Fireplace?  Garage?  Community facilities and activities?  3.  Separate your "needs" from your "wants"...

Are you an Odenton home seller or buyer?  The answer to that question will determine your perspective on today's real estate market in Odenton!  Here's what buyers are saying (or should be):A few years ago, the press couldn't say enough about what a great real estate market it was.  That was true for sellers, but  NOT for home buyers.  Now the shoe is on the other foot, as the saying goes.  The press is moaning about what a terrible market it is (and most home sellers would agree), but IT'S A GREAT MARKET FOR HOME BUYERS!   DOWN:The total number of homes sold is down 8.11% from February 2007 to this year, and the total sold dollar volume is down 11.95%- to $11,627,200.That reduced dollar volume comes from more than a reduction in units sold, however; it's also the result of a small drop...

With apologies to Clement Clark Moore for this parody by Margaret Woda, based on his "A Visit from St. Nicholas"   'Twas the week before Christmas, and all through the town, Not a buyer was stirring, the market was down. Our sale sign was posted in front with care,In hopes that some buyers soon would be there. The children were curled up reading in bed,And visions of moving danced in dad's head. Now Grandma in her sweater, and pa in his cap,Were asleep near the fire, taking a nap. When out in the yard there arose such a clatter,I leaped from my chair to see what was the matter.Away to the window I flew like a flash,Pulled back the curtains and threw up the sash. The road wasn't shoveled, there was new-fallen snowAnd neighborhood children were playing below. When, what to my wondering eyes ...

ODENTON MD 21113 The effects of BRAC are not being felt yet in Odenton (21113) - which kinda surprises me, given its proximity to Ft. Meade and the NSA.  I expected savvy investors to start buying up property in Odenton long before now - and certainly now that the market has levelled off a bit.  According to June sales statistics released today by MRIS, the real estate market for Odenton (21113) remained relatively stable last month, consistent with the immediate surrounding area.  June (21113)    2007    2006Total Sold Dollar Volume: $ 19,104,210 $ 23,979,151 - 20.33 % Average Sold Price: $ 347,349 $ 352,635 - 1.50 % Median Sold Price: $ 325,000 $ 342,158 - 5.01 % Total Units Sold: 55 68 - 19.12 % Average Days on Market: 73 53 37.74 % Average List Price for Solds: $ 360,315 $ 362,509 -...
