The newest craze in transportation and touring, offered at Deep Creek Lake's Wisp Resort, are Segway Tours. The Segway is an upright, self-balancing people mover. The movie, Bart The Mall Cop featured the Segway and so did the movie 10MPH.  In the movie 10MPH, two guys quit their corporate jobs to take a road trip across America, on a Segway, traveling 10 MPH.   My husband Ted has been exploring Deep Creek Lake since 20008, at 12 1/2 MPH and folks on the mountain call him the Segway Man. Here are the latest statistics for the McHenry, Deep Creek Lake area. I have several others if you would like to see them but consentrated this month around the Wisp Resort. Our real estate market seems somewhat stronger but I still think it has a ways to go. As they say in real estate, History Repeats Itself. With that being said, then you all know that the market will correct and that it is all in timing the market. Here are some interesting stats for Garrett County Maryland from MRIS. It shows the average sales price for homes in Garrett County from 2005 to 2010. It also shows the median sales price from 2005 to 2010. Our real estate market still has a lot of inventory and some great deals around the lake and mountain.  I am currently in Old Town Alexandria today enjoying some great weather.  When I left Deep Creek Lake on Tuesday, it was snowing!  Not much sticking on the ground as it was to warm, but it was snow and steady for most the morning and early afternoon hours. Just before I left I saw some small buds on our trees and it is just another sign that our winter season is winding down and spring is trying to make an appearance. If you saw the 1990 movie Edward Sissorhands with Johnny Depp, Winona Ryder and Dianne Wiest you will know what I am talking about, when I say Edward Sissorhands has been working overtime here at Deep Creek lake! If you have not seen the movie you might think my Cabin Fever has caught up with me! Our snowfall to date is around 250 inches with 44" of snow last week and 4 to 6 inches last night.This snow season has been somewhat taxing for our snow removal crews and home owners. There is just so much snow with very few places to move it. However, when you are not shoveling it and take a minute to enjoy it, the snow scenes are simply awesome.  I took these photos last week at my home. We have had a lot of snow this winter at Deep Creek Lake.  So much that the National Guard was called in to help move it off our roads. Our schools have been closed for a week at a time. I thought I would share some fun photos with you! This photo was taken in Garrett County and was sent to me by some friends. It has been all over the internet and YouTube.  We feed the deer and I think they are going to be really hungry in the next few weeks as our weather warms up and the snow clears. I was sent this photo from my good friends in Old Town Alexandria. This photo makes me laugh!  The snow has been great for the Wisp Ski Resort. Mama Bear and Baby Bear could smell all the wonderful food we had for a Birthday, Housewarming and Celebration of friends, the night before.  What they did not know is that the Segway Man, was coming down the driveway, after exploring Deep Creek Lake at 12 miles an hour. It could of been a real disaster as Mama Bears are very protective of thier young and the Segway can not out run the bear.  But thanks to some kids next door that were out and about playing, they yelled, Bears, bears in your garage, just in time for the Segway and owner to turn around in the driveway. With the garage doors closed, the bears moved on and the Segway Man came home!  07/22/2009

YAHOO it's Friday. Things are great here at Deep Creek Lake. The weather has been terrific and I got to play tennis with my daughter. This 40+ somthing beat a 20 year old 6 to 1! I am feeling good. We played at the Northern Middle School tennis courts. I had lunch today with a colleague from Long & Foster at the Perkins at the Market Square Shopping Center. It was delicous. We enjoyed their new salad, called a Market salad. I had fresh apples, candied walnuts and grilled chicken with a raspberry dressing. If you are in town anytime soon, give it a try.
