Crabbing Season in Southern Maryland! The Chesapeake Bay is one of the only estuaries in North America. It is is also the sanctuary for the Maryland Blue Crab. For Maryland and Virginia the harvest of this little crustacean is a huge part of our economy. (racking in over 100 million dollars in 1993) Since then harvest has dropped due to regulations, so that this tasty little creature can still survive and reproduce. Stress is a physical response by an outside stimulus. I am on the Calvert County Tourism commission and we had our monthly meeting yesterday. One of the speakers was Tim Hepler from the Chesapeake Hills Golf Course. Calvert County purchased the golf course in November 2008 and they have really done some work! Their first focus was the greens. They are steadily making progress on them. They have renovated the patio and plan to add a tent for golf functions. Inside they are painting and doing some cosmetic work to make the clubhouse more appealing. They plan on remodeling the banquet room so it can be used for golf course events and outings. It will be great to have a nice golf course in Lusby!
