After the long dry summer in St Mary's Maryland we finally had rain, rain and more rain!!  I have a walk out basement but I noticed the water building up on the patio. I hope it's not too late to share two simple things you can do to HELP PREVENT A FLOODED BASEMENT: Take the time, right now, to make sure that the drain in your basement areaway is free from leaves and debris. We've had so much rain in the last few days that a few leaves over the drain could block the rains exit. Now make sure that your sump pump is turned on and running properly.   USDA OR RURAL DEVELOPMENT LOANS UP DATE FOR ST MARY'S MD The National Association of REALTORS is still working on the 502 Single-Family Rural Housing Loan Guarantee Program, according to an announcement they made on July 1, 2010, to the REALTORS who had responded to a Call to Action concerning this program.  This follows another article I wrote on June 11, 2010. NAR states that language is included in the H.R. 4899, the Emergency Supplemental Appropriations bill, that is currently in conference between the House and Senate.  They expect the House to pass the bill and that hopefully the Senate will do the same when they return the week of July 12.  When the bill passes Single-Family Rural Housing Loan Guarantee Program will be restored through the end of the fiscal year.  Another name ... 07/01/2010

One of the things I love about living in Calvert County and near St. Mary's County are the abundance of beaches, private and public.  I mean it is as if I am on vacation every day during the summer. After a long day of work, I get home change into my suit and walk to the neighborhood beach and enjoy a few hours of sun, sand and water.   A friend came down this weekend to visit and enjoy the Southern Maryland beaches with me and he discovered a beach I never heard of that is in Lexington Park Md.  Elms Beach, is a state park and offers no fees to enter. It is opened as early as 8am to sunset.
